4 décembre The Episode About NothingWe left off in the last episode with Papa Petrelli sucking all of Hiro's power out through his head. We start at the same place, except Papa sees one of the African guy's paintings and gets distracted. Ando tries to get Hiro to blink them both away....but Hiro is befuddled, talking about waffles, and then they do blink away just in the nick of time. The painting Papa P was looking at is the planet exploding....the end of the world. Again. Hiro has teleported himself and Ando to a bowling alley that serves the best waffles in the world. After some confusion, Ando discovers Hiro thinks he is ten years old. So.....Papa P wasn't sucking out his powers.....he was taking away his memory. I guess.
Ok. Time for some father-son bonding. Papa Petrelli blips his way back home and tells Sylar he knows that he saved Peter. He also knows that the hunger Sylar has is for power, not a blood lust. He tells Sylar he can get powers from people without killing them, he just has to use empathy. Is that how Papa Petrelli does it? So he puts Sylar in a cell with Elle Bell. She recognizes him as Bing's killer and shoots him full of blue electricity. Sylar says, you deserve vengeance. Let me have it.
Now we're with Claire Bear and Peter. Peter thinks Claire Bear should go home, to stay innocent. He says, you end up killing me in the future....and the only way I can prevent that from happening is if you stop turning into a killer. And Claire Bear is like, oh no. So Fire Guy and Fear Guy show up to get Peter...and Claire Bear tells Peter to run, she has a plan. Apparently, Claire Bear's brilliant idea was jumping out of a window after Peter had a chance to run down the fire escape. Great Claire....brilliant idea. The alley they end up in has another picture of the apocalypse, it looks like the same alley she shoots him in in the future....maybe that's reaching. They escape into the sewer.
And here's Mohinder. Remember him? I feel like we haven't talked about him in a while....anyway, he has totally destroyed his human experient. The guy looks like a freak. Papa Petrelli walks into the lab and Mohinder is depressed because he can't figure out a cure for himself....nevermind the guy suffering in the corner that you have been testing on. Papa notices Mohinder has been Googling solar flares. He explains that a lot of the powers manifested during the previous solar eclipse. He can't figure out the catalyst that makes the powers work though....it must be something carried in a living human being. Papa thinks that Sulu must have hidden it.
So Parkman and Flashypants are at Primatech and they find Mama Petrelli in her coma. Parkman says he has to help her. Flashypants speeds away to Papa, and he says let him try. If he does anything, Papa P will be waiting.
Back to Claire and Peter. Claire Bear is mad because Peter keeps telling her she's turning into a killer. She says, it's your fault. You're the one who came to my rescue. You're the one who became my friend and my hero. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww....that actually is kind of sweet. So Fire Guy and Fear Guy are on their trail, and Peter runs ahead so Claire Bear can defend him. But oh....here's a wrench in that plan. They're not after Peter. They're after HER. Uh oh. So Peter cuts a gas line and lures the bad guys in. When Fire Guy tries to fry, the gas ignites and Peter and Claire escape. Saved her again, Peter. You must be a hero. Man, he is really cute....I just wish he wouldn't scowl so much.
Cut back Hiro and Ando in the bowling alley. Hiro is rediscovering his abilities and handling it with all sorts of comic relief.
Sylar and Elle Bell start to bond after she gets tired of frying him. She begs him to kill her. He reaches out to touch her face, and all of the sudden he has her powers....without cutting her brain open. Well, that takes all the fun out of it. But now the pain Elle Bell was in, is gone. Now Elle Bell likes him, and teaches him how to use the blue electricity.
Nathan and the Ice Queen show up at Pinehearst to see Papa risen from the dead. Papa says you were always my favorite, Nathan. Let's make history. That whole schpeel sounded kind of lame....but lame Nathan seems to be falling for it. When he leaves the office he tells the Ice Queen to go back to Washington and cover for him. He needs to see Mama again. But the Ice Queen is not impressed by Nathan, so she goes back into Pinehearst and tells Papa Petrelli that she can help him get Nathan on board as long he looks out for her in the end. Making deals.
So Parkman is in Mama Petrelli's head. Mama says you should not have come. She warns him about Papa Petrelli, but it's too late. All the doors in Coma Land have been locked and then Flashypants shows up and stabs Parkman. In reality, Flashypants tries to wake Parkman up when she sees that he actually has started to bleed like he was really stabbed. This gets a little confusing, but the real Flashypants gets into Coma Land too, Papa is there telling Parkman not to trust a woman, two Flashypants are arguing with Parkman, then Mama tells Papa to let her go and he does. Everyone wakes up and everyone is ok. Very weird. Then Peter and Claire Bear show up at Primtech. Parkman thinks Peter is going to blip him off to Africa again, but oh no, Parkman that was my future self....I'm on your side. And because that makes so much sense, Parkman just believes him.
Mohinder does finally put the incredible hulk out of his misery.
Now that Ando has convinced Hiro he really does have powers, they blip to a comic book store, which Hiro refers to as the source of all knowledge. <smile> Love it. They find a copy of their comic book and see a picture of an eclipse with the caption "It's coming."
Now Nathan is at Primatech with the rest of the good guys. Mama Petrelli explains that Papa has both halves of the formula, but he must still be missing something. She already knows about the catalyst and explains that Sulu has hidden it inside a human host. Claire Bear says, well it must be me. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Talk about thinking you're God's gift. I'm just kidding, it didn't sound as conceited as that....she just remembered Sylar telling her she was special after he sniffed her brain.
Back at Pinehearst, and all the bad guys are in a group around Papa Petrelli. He is sketching with the white eyes, and when he's done, we see the same picture that was in the comic book. The eclipse with the caption - 'It's coming."
Honestly....nothing really seemed to happen in this episode. It was actually really frustrating. All build-up for this eclipse stuff. Well. It better be good. That's all I can say....it better be good.

To Be or Not to BeThis episode is a flashback. The whole thing is an explanation of Papa Petrelli's past and how the villains became villains. I don't mind flashback episodes, especially if it actually answers some questions. They use Hiro's spirit walk as an excuse to show us all this....apparently he needs to understand the villains better which is why he's seeing it too. So we go back to a party, sounds like an anniversary party, for Mama and Papa Petrelli. Linderman is there, asking Nathan why he's being investigated. Apparently Nathan knows he's a bad guy and won't back off. Linderman conferences with Papa P and tells him if Nathan digs too deep he'll see Papa's involved too. So Papa makes a reference to Shakespeare and when the son challenges the father, only one is left standing. Like Hamlet? Except of course he didn't go up against his father, he went up against his uncle who killed his father. As a matter of fact....I can't think of any Shakespeare sons who killed their father? What a weird analogy to add in there....
Anyway. Fire Guy and Fire Girl are related....<nodding> yup, that makes sense. They're robbing a liquor store together and a Company Agent (Mr. Eric Roberts) interrupts them. Fire Girl distracts the agent so that her brother can get away. Cut to Sylar who is trying to kill himself. This must have been after he realized what he could do. But what's this? Elle Bell walks into his watch shop, sees him hanging himself, fries the rope and tells him everything is going to be ok. He doesn't realize she has powers too....she tells him it was fate that the rope broke. It means he gets a second chance. Poor Sylar asks for forgiveness. Forgiveness? He calls Elle Bell an angel....aha, so we're back to the religion allusions. Elle Bell says, and this was interesting, everybody does bad things. Why yes, yes they do. So she leaves and we find out that she's working with Claire Bear's dad for the Company. They are apparently monitoring Sylar to see what he is capable of....well. That doesn't sound so good, does it?
Back at the Company and Eric Roberts offers Fire Mom the option to be a prisoner in Level 5, or an agent. Is that the same thing? Not sure. The Fifth Circle of Hell, by the way, according to Dante's Inferno is for the wrathful and sullen (expressed and repressed anger).....more religion stuff I guess. So she decides to be an agent. Cut back to the Petrelli's and here's Papa asking Nathan to back off of Linderman. He says no. And then we get to see the car accident again where Nathan's ex was paralyzed. You know....the first time I saw this, I think it was in the first season, I just assumed he was flying for the first time. But now it looks more like he's being pulled out of the car by someone. Someone saves him.....probably his dad. At the hospital Nathan confronts Papa and says, Linderman did this and I'm taking him down and if you stand in the way, you're going with him. Time for Papa to choose between his friends or his family. But I think he's already made that choice. Later that night Mama wants Papa to say that he had nothing to do with it. But of course he can tell her whatever he wants and just get the Haitian guy to wipe her memory clean later.
Now we're back with Fire Mom and Eric Roberts. They go to get one of the "villains". The guy's fist turns into iron (well that's cool!) and he knocks out Eric Roberts. Then Fire Mom saves the day. Fire Mom locks up the Iron Fist and sees her brother in a cell in Level 5. Fire Guy thinks he's going to be an agent too, but Fire Mom thinks he's just too dumb to know any better.
Now we're with Sylar again. He has the map of "heroes" that Dr. Suresh gave him. Elle Bell shows up with a pie. Pie can make anybody do anything....can't it? Sylar throws away the list of heroes and then when he's distracted Elle Bell grabs the list out of the trash. Then he shows her what he can do and she pretends to think it's cool. <shaking my head> Men are so easy.....they really are. Sylar admits that his power makes him hungry, that he wants to be more special. Elle Bell says, you're special just the way you are.....<shaking my head>.....which is the best thing to say if you want someone to feel like a loser. Papa Bennett says they need to see Sylar kill someone, so they are going to bait him with one of the heroes on the list that Elle Bell stole. Elle Bell does seem to be having second thoughts about their entrapment plan....
After the break we're with the Petrellis again. Papa P is scheming with Linderman, when Mama overhears. Before she can do anythign drastic, Papa brainwashes her into thinking that Nathan needs to die. Later on Linderman comes back, apparently feeling sorry for the repetitive lobotomies Papa has been giving Mama. He heals her brain, which allows her to remember everything.
Fire Mom breaks her brother out of the Company. Eric Roberts shows up to stop them. Fire Guy gets away again, and Fire Mom blows everybody up. Eric Roberts has Fire Mom handcuffed again after the explosion and asks her why she hates the Company so much. She says that they killed her daughter, Claire. And because this show loves irony, you can actually see Claire in the background in her little cheerleader uniform running into the fire....and Eric Roberts for some reason decides to let her go saying it's payback for the death of her child....
Back to Sylar and Elle Bell. They are having dinner, and oh by the way, Elle Bell invited a special guest who happens to be one of the people on Sylar's list. The special guy explodes a glass or something and Elle Bell pretends to be all impressed so that Sylar gets jealous. Which of course he does, but instead of beating the guy up, he rips open his brain. Elle Bell tries to stop him, but he throws her to the side. Elle Bell is very sad that this is all her fault....she says, we've created a monster. Or made a villain. Papa Bennett says, pull yourself together, we'll catch the guy soon enough. Our job is not to save the world, just to follow orders. Oh the irony. Then he gets into a cab, that Peter Petrelli just got out of....that is being driven by Mohinder.....this is the scene from season 1.....it all comes full circle. I love how they did this.
Mama and Papa Petrelli are having dinner now too, with the Haitian standing behind them to keep Papa from brainwashing anybody. Mama starts acting all weird about how Papa doesn't know her. She says he's lost his soul. And then he falls over, apparently poisoned by the soup he was eating. Before she and the Haitian can get rid of the body, Nathan shows up....so they take him to the hospital instead so Nathan doesn't know what happened. Then a doctor tells them that Papa has died. But he didn't.....the doctor is under Papa's telepathic mind control. He is paralyzed though, and the paralysis is not reversible. I'm kind of confused by this....since Linderman can heal people.....why doesn't he heal Papa P? Mama P had asked for Papa to be cremated immediately, so at the funeral everybody is looking at his urn. Mama explains to the Petrelli boys that their Papa was not a good man....he was bad in ways they'll never know......don't speak too soon Angela.....
Last scene - Hiro wakes up from his spirit walk knowing the Papa Petrelli is still alive. They hear someone scream and find the African guy decapitated. Then Papa Petrelli materializes out of thin air and grabs Hiro's head. And he starts to scream.
I tried to sum this one up a little more along the story lines and now how the actually show went. The show jumps around too much to be able to write about it coherently in the same timeline. Anyway, the episode was titled Villains. Obviously it showed us how Papa Petrelli was a villain, not how he became one....but how he "survived" death, and it showed us how Sylar became a villain. I'm not sure what the Fire Mom storyline had to do with Villains....maybe that they treated her line one...but she really wasn't. <shaking my head> This episode started off bad with the Shakespeare refernce....don't try to get a bad Shakespeare analogy past moi....that won't work in a million years. Hamlet was avenging his father, killed by his uncle. If anything it probably applies more to Claire. She will no doubt have to avenge Nathan's death at the hands of Peter. To be or not to be. If you haven't read this monologue in a while, or ever, you should. You'll probably understand it now. To be or not to be. To endure or to surrender. To live or to commit suicide. It's interpreted many different ways, only because many different people have read it. The conscience does make cowards of us all. Yes it does....but it also makes heroes and villains.
I know I'm behind on these...I'll try to get them updated as soon as possible.

29 octobre As I Am Now, So You Will BeStranger, stop and cast an eye
As you are now, so once was I
As I am now, so you will be
Remember Death and follow me.
YAAAAAAAAAAAY, Heroes. I love this show. Love it love it love it. The episode starts off with Hiro and Ando in Africa now....I bet they'll get to spirit walk too. Find a turtle. Yeah. So anyway, Hiro doesn't want to go back in time. Stop making stupid suggestion Ando. The African guy asks, will you choose your own path or will it choose you? That question doesn't really make any sense....does it? Back in the Spider's Parlor and Suresh is mad at Nathan and Tracy for messing up his evil scientist experiments. He needs a sample of their blood...and they're like.....uh, no. So he un-velcros (that's a word, I looked it up in Websters) Maya from the wall and flies out the ceiling. That was kind of overdramatic...but whatever. Peter is at Pinehearst, locked up with no great Abilities. They are gone forever...which I highly doubt. Papa Petrelli tells him he needs to help them with the Greater Good. The Greater Good? That sounds very Hitler, doesn't it? The Greater Good....actually it reminds me of Hot Fuzz and yes, I know I had that clip up on the site for about a million years but I love that movie. Anyway. Peter says, I'm going to make you pay for hurting my mother, and Papa replies - You're grounded. <chuckle> I'm sure that was supposed to be ironic, and not just dumb. Claire Bear and her fake mom are home after defeating the Creepy Puppet Guy. Mom says, I'm very proud of you. Awwwwwwwww....and just when you think everything is going to be ok, the lights start flickering in the house. Claire Bear's brother is passed out. And there she is - the Static Cling girl, Elle. Elle appears to be shorting out. She tries to shock Claire Bear, but of course she can't feel anything. And then Lyle dumps a bucket of water on her...well, that was handy. Elle Bell says, I need help. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm....Claire Bear is a Hero............that means she has to help her.
So Mohinder has made it to Pinehearst with Maya, apparently on the recommendation of Flash Fancypants. Papa Petrelli sucks the abilities out of her and Maya's really happy about it, but she still doesn't want to see Mohinder. You mean...because he's a freakin' monster!! Ok, so now Papa Petrelli wants Mohinder's help with the Formula. He bribes Mohinder into thinking if he solves the problem, he will end up helping himself. But of course, we know that's not true after seeing the future. Suresh agrees though and says, in a super creepy way, I need test subjects. Ewwwww <shiver>. Mama Petrelli and Sylar are both in comas. But Mama manages to appear to Sylar in some kind of dream state. She tells him to go help his brother. And Sylar is like what are you talking about, I am incapacitated. Mama says, oh no, you don't know the half of what you're capable of...she says get with the program and make me proud. So he wakes himself up, rips the tubes out and goes to save Peter. I am a baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan.
The Claire Bear and Elle Bell show has begun. The two of these characters together was actually kind of funny. Claire Bear is like, is there something wrong with you? Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Elle Bell says, your dad always had the answers. Some girl told me to go to Pinehearst for help, but I wasn't sure...and of course Claire Bear still has that Pinehearst business card from Vorty. Elle Bell can feel nothing but pain and Claire Bear can't feel any pain...so they decide to go together. And Elle Bell goes, well Dorothy, we're off to see the Wizard. Oz references will be around until the end of Time, won't they? But back at Pinehearst, Flashy is trying to defend her decision to not recruit Parkman. So Papa Petrelli tells Flashy she has to go back and kill Parkman. And now Papa Parkman is upset. He says, that wasn't the deal, it was his safety for my loyalty. So Papa Petrelli kills Papa Parkman. Huh. Just like that, huh? Claire Bear's fake mom says Pinehearst sounds like a dishwashing detergent. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. She thinks Claire Bear should call her father, which of course is what she should do, and which of course she doesn't do. Back at Parkman's place and Flashy shows up to kill him, but can't do it. Then he reads her mind and finds out his father is dead.
Peter is apparently going to be Mohinder's new test subject. This would be an excellent time for Sylar to save him. Hellooooooooooooooooooo. Peter is trying to convince Mohinder that he has seen the future and Suresh ends up as a monster warning Peter to prevent this from happening. If I didn't know better, I wouldn't believe it either Suresh. And just before Suresh can jab him with the needle, Sylar is there. He throws Mohinder against the wall and then he kills the random scientist guy in the room. Peter seems surprised Sylar is there, and Sylar is like, dude that's what brothers do. <smile> Ok, so he didn't say dude. And then Mohinder attacks again, Peter gets away and Sylar is getting his head bashed in. Papa Petrelli shows up and says, stop that's my son. I guess Suresh is the only character on the show that didn't know that yet. Peter keeps running though and gets away.
Back at the Spider's Parlor, Nathan and Tracy are waiting for the clean-up crew. Tracy thinks they need to help the pod people, which of course isn't a good idea. One of them tries to strangle her when Papa Bennett shows up and stuns him. Papa B is like, I told you not to touch them. And then Fire Mom walks in, his new partner....and of course Nathan's ex. This is interesting. Fire and Ice. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Claire Bear and Elle Bell are flying to Pinehearst, but Elle Bell keeps short circuiting and now she might crash the plane. Claire Bear holds her hand though and all the electricity goes into her...which of course she can't feel. And the plane doesn't crash and they save everyone from imminent death.
Back at Parkman's place and Flashy thinks they should run. Parkman says no. Fear guy shows up and is too strong for Flashy, he knocks her unconscious. Then Parkman goes all bad ass on him, says I'm going to rip out your worst fear and make it eat you alive. Wowee...that sounds scary. But then the Fear guy turns it all around and kills him. Huh? Parkman's dead? <infuriatingly timed commercial> Oh no...he's not dead. It was an illuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuusion. I get it. Does that mean Papa Parkman illuded (look it up in Websters) Flashy earlier and he's not really dead either? Parkman wants to stop the bad guys, he says Primatech can help.
Peter is running amok in Pinehearst. Papa Petrelli is levitating Sylar and he says, your mom isn't as great as you think she is....she tried to kill you when you were a baby. Oh really? That actually makes more sense. Papa Petrelli tells Sylar needs to learn the truth about her. Maya is leaving and Suresh is trying to say I'm sorry....but she's not buying it. Bye Maya...I've been waiting for you to get off this show for a while now. So annoying. She says, get better. Physician, heal thyself. And she also said she's going to make amends for everything...so unfortunately.....we'll probably see her again. Claire Bear and Elle Bell are at Pinehearst to get their help. Peter see Sylar and Sylar says, we need to believe Papa Petrelli. <confused look> That doesn't make any sense...the guy talked to him for about 30 seconds....and converted already? I'm not buying it. So Sylar throws Peter out the window. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?!?!? This show doesn't make sense anymore. I'm starting to get annoyed. Peter falls like 11 stories.......and isn't dead, but he has no Abilities, so that doesn't make sense either. Claire Bear goes to help him, but Elle Bell is excited because she heard him say, 'they took away my abilities', which is all she wants. So Elle Bell goes inside, and Claire Bear gets Peter in the car.
Sylar tells Papa Petrelli that Peter will never give up. Never surrender!! <smile> Papa is like, yeah whatever....but how did he survive the fall in the first place.....hmmmm....Sylar acts very suspicious about this. The Flashy calls Papa Petrelli and we find out she's actually his spy and did the whole act to get Parkman in on the deal. Oh man....that sucks. Peter thinks Sylar used his abilities to slow Peter's fall and saved his life. Nathan and Tracy show up and Peter breaks the news that Papa Petrelli is still alive. Nathan doesn't believe it and wants to go to Pinehearst, but Peter doesn't think it's a good idea. He says, promise me you won't go and Nathan promises and then as soon as he's out of the room, he tells Tracy they're going. Does Nathan know that Sylar is their brother? I don't think Peter told him that.....Tracy apparently has been getting 'consultant fees' from Pinehearst for the last year.......that seemed like such a random piece of information.....like they had to add it for some kind of story twist. We'll see. Nathan says, oh I won't need your help getting in, I'm going to be kicking down the doors. Hehehe. Ok.
The show ends with Hiro and Ando still in Africa. The African guy has mixed up some turtle poop drugs and Hiro is going on a little white-eyed trip. Hmmmmmmmmmmm....wonder what he'll see.
The title to this episode was 'Eris Quod Sum', which is of course latin for 'You Will Be What I Am'. According to Wiki, this is from a Horace quote 'Eram quod es, eris quod sum.' It was seen a lot on early New England gravestones. I was who you are - you will be what I am. Father to son. An endless cycle. Fate. Inevitability. We've seen the sons gain power and become more like their fathers. While the daughters seem to get weaker and lose control. That's also interesting. And then of course, there's Mohinder. Our Every Man. He wants to be a Hero with none of the side effects. I think Parkman's dad is still alive. I think Sylar saved Peter. I think the battle between Primatech and Pinehearst is nigh. The sides are starting to take shape. I think whatever Hiro sees will stay a secret.
This episode was kind of scattered and frustrating. I hope they don't do that again.
Later gators,
Heather 21 octobre Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good NightDo not go gentle into that good night, Do Not Go GentleTime for Heroes. The Hubby seems to be getting tired of this show. He says it should be more about the Heroes and less about the Villains. I'm sure some people agree with that....but not me. The title of the episode is "Dying of the Light". It's from a Dylan Thomas poem called 'Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night'; I'll post it next for you uneducated heathens. The poem refers to Thomas' father, military man on his death bed, and how he should be fighting to the death. Fight for your life. Fight as long as you have life in you. But at the same time know that the fight is pointless. It's a fight you can't win....but some of those fights are the most important. When the fighting is more important than the winning. It is about losing your father. It is about that fear and helpless anger. Some people want to die, when they are ready...they want to just close their eyes and fall asleep forever...but every child, deep down in some, will always be screaming these thoughts. Don't go. Fight against it. Stay with me...even if you stay to curse me or to bless me. Just stay with me. I'm not ready to not have a dad....
And on that note, let's get to it. The voiceover is back with Suresh, talking about the traveler and the path he chooses, and whether the path was worth taking....and sometimes, without realizing it, the path can lead you to an entirely different destination than you were expecting. Yeah, yeah....we get it. No one is where they thought they would be. And Parkman has a turtle. <tilting my head, inquisitively like I'm looking at a person who carries their pet turtle onto an airplane> Alrighty then. The real action starts back at the bar. Remember Hiro killed Ando during the last episode. Well, right off the bat they show us how he faked it...blipping to a magic shop that he magically knew how to find and getting a trick sword and fake blood and blipping to earlier in the night to warn Ando to pretend to be dead. So he didn't kill him. But Flashy thinks he did, and she is totally annoyed. Hiro wants to meet the Leader of the Villains, but Flashy says, oh no. You get an assignment, just like everyone else. He has to capture the African guy, yeah Parkman's African visionary guy. Of course...how do you sneek up on someone who knows you're coming.....
Now Claire Bear wants to save the Firestarter and Mama Bennett wants to help...one of us and one of them. <shaking my head> Oh, that's no good. Switch over to the creepy puppet guy and we find out that he's done this to Firestarter before. He just wants her to love him...ewwwwwwwww. That guy is gross. Now we're back at the mysterious Pinehearst insane asylum (I realize it's not an asylum...but it does sound like it should be one, right?)...the Fear Guy has Adam and he's leading him down the hallway. Adam is not afraid of him....obviously because he can't die. But then Adam sees Papa Petrelli and totally freaks out. He tries to get out of the room, but he just made Fear Guy strong....so now he has to stand next to the bed and Papa touches him....sucks all the Life out of him....Adam poofs away into dust a la Joss Whedon vampires. And now Papa is alive and well....he says, it feels good to breathe again. Well, yeah, I guess so. I assume this means he has the healing powers that Adam had....so, like Peter and Sylar, he can absorb powers from people. That makes a lot of sense.
So Flashy is at the airport to find Parkman and is having second thoughts about this whole 'bad guy' thing. Linderman appears and says, you can't leave...otherwise that thing we give you, we won't give you anymore...or something like that. It was very cryptic. But they obviously have something on her that will keep her loyal to the Pinehearst asylum. Parkman is off the plane and talking to his turtle (smile) when he sees Flashy. It must be fate! Over to the Spiderman's Parlour where Nathan and Tracy want Mohinder to help them. This is no good. Tracy explains about Doctor Frankenstein and Suresh gets all creepy excited. He says I think we can help each other....in a way that totally would have had me running for the door. But it's Suresh right? Can't hurt a fly. So he injects the two of them with some kind of DNA marker....except it's not that....it knocks them unconscious, but before Nathan goes out, he finds the cocoon lair. Now you're really in trouble. Back at the airport and Flashy is weirded out that Parkman knows who she is. Flashy says, join the team, rah rah rah. Parkman is like, that's the only reason you're here? She doesn't sound very convincing, but he's acting like a stalker, especially after he tells her about his future dream. She's halfway across the planet when he yells out, we name our baby after your grandmother. Which makes her come back, because he knew her grandmother's name. Yeah...that would have gotten my attention too. So she agrees to come back to the airport when she's done being a bad guy for the day.
Flashy's next stop is at Level 5. She's there to break out Sylar. But Sylar doesn't want to go. He's a good guy now. She says come to dark side, we have cookies. He says no and then he tries to hold her there, but she flits away right after she gives him an asylum business card and breaks out the Fire guy. So Sylar goes to get Peter. He needs his help to save mom and find out about this Pinehearst place. And suddenly we're in Africa with Hiro and Ando. They try to sneak up on the African guy, and Hiro is stupidly excited to see Isaac-like paintings...until he sees one of him getting hit over the head with a shovel. And he tries to go back in time....but he keeps getting hit over the head with a shovel....and you would think he'd have some brain damage by now, but instead they decide to sneak up on the African guy the old-fashioned way. They are going to wait until he comes back to camp.
Now we're at the Puppet guy's house of horrors. Mama Bennett pretends to want to book the creepy guy for a birthday party, except he hears banging around in the back and realizes Mama is in on it. So he freezes her. Claire Bear tries to break out the Firestarter, except Creepy Puppet Guy shows up with Mama and now it's all over. He's got all three of them. I'm sure this was not a part of the Plan. Next on Flashy's to-do list is Mohinder. She gets to the lab and tells him the Pinehearst people have already figured out how to make abilities and they need his help, or something. Then she hears something in his evil lair of cocooned people....whizzes in there and sees Tracy....then looks at Mohinder and tsks him for being as bad as the others....then whizzes away before he can catch her. Back with the Creepy Puppet Guy who has a game of Family Roulette going on. Claire Bear has to pick which mom she's going to shoot....and she tries to resist but of course she can't and so Creepy Puppet Guy forces her to shoot, but the chamber is empty. Next up - Mama B. Claire Bear uses her kid-telepathy and tells mom, it's ok, it's me, do what you have to do. Mama B is clearly smarter than I give her credit for, because instead o just shooting once, she keeps shooting until the gun actually fires and Claire is "killed". Creepy Puppet Guy thinks that was great, until Claire resurrects herself and bonks him over the head.
When Peter wakes up out of his medically induced coma, he is not a happy camper. Sylar brings him to Evil Mom, who is paralyzed remember. Peter tries to look into her head to find out what happened, but he gets zapped and all he sees is the helix symbol on the Pinehearst logo. Sylar tries to convince him that he can control the Hunger, that he'll be ok. And then they fight....and that was cool. Sylar loses and Peter puts him in the coma bed that he was in a little while ago and is off to Pinehearst to find out what the hell is going on. By the way....when was the last time Peter smiled, or had anything other than that scowl on his face all the time? Not that I mind....<whistle> he is awfully easy on the eyes.
So Papa B shows up at the Creepy Puppet house of horrors and shoots up the villain with sleepy drugs. Claire walks out all full of herself and Papa B tries to recruit the Firestarter. They need more Jedis if they are going to win the War. Back in Spiderman's Parlour, Tracy woos him into believing she cares, and she says - maybe we're all monsters [please see my comments from the last episode and recognize my genious insight into this show]. Then she tries to freeze him. She freezes her restraints and gets loose. Then she gets Nathan loose and they almost get out, but Mohinder is apparently fine again and throws a desk at them....we're not finished yet....
So just as Parkman is feeling like a loser....talking to his turtle....Flashypants shows up again. She says, you're too good to be in Pinehearst, stay away from them. He says she should stay away too and tells her about his vision where she dies. She would if she could but apparently she can't. She runs off...trying to outrun the decision to pick a side. Switch over to Africa and the African guy shows back up at his campsite and Hiro thinks he's got him....but instead the African guy, says good. You stopped relying on your powers and started using your head. He says, you're ready. Hmmmmm....ready for what? To be a Jedi knight? He shows Hiro a picture of the 'Villains You Seek'. It's Papa Petrelli, Papa Parkman, Fire Guy and Fear Guy. Not Claire or Ando or Flashypants....or Mohinder or Peter or Sylar......hmmmmmmmm. But then he shows them another picture, apparently of Peter hugging some old guy (Papa Petrelli...but I'm not sure Hiro knows who it is).
And now we're in the asylum. The villains have gathered in the conference room (Fear guy, Fire guy, Flashypants and Papa Parkman) with Papa Petrelli. Petrelli explains that they'll be able to decide who's 'Special' and who's not. I get it, they can give people abilities and apparently, Papa Petrelli can suck them out of people. Peter, who was invisible, storms in. And sees his dead father. That does make him pause....understandably. He wants to know what's wrong with his mother...I mean, why she's paralyzed. And why aren't you dead? Papa Petrelli says everything is going to be Fine, give us a hug. Oh come on....that's the oldest evil parent trick in the book.....but Peter falls for it, like his gullible adorable butt falls for everything. And Papa Petrelli sucks all the powers out of him. Peter tries to zap him, but of course he can't. Now I bet he's wishing he went there with Sylar....or One of Them.
So here's what I think. As far as this episode goes....and pretty much the whole show.....more Father issues. Claire Bear and Papa B. Hiro and Sulu, in the past. Parkman and his dad. Bing and Elle in the past (when's she coming back, by the way?). The original father-son problem with Mohinder and his papa. And now....now we have Peter and Sylar and Darth Petrelli. <smile> Nice. Rage....rage against the dying of the light. I think all the papas went bad in the end, right? The dying of the light is not death, it is the good in them. There is still good in you, I can feel it!! All the characters with daddy issues are our Heroes. And the Force will make them strong.
That helix symbol has been around the whole time, by the way. It was the symbol covering the pictures of the assassinated Company 12. It was on the necklace Peter was found with when he mysteriously turned up in that crate. And when Caitlin (the Irish lassie) tattooed him, the tattoo faded into that symbol. When he tracked Adam to Montreal, the store had the symbol over it. The symbol though was different in the earlier episodes....there was only one helix. Now it is a double helix, like the DNA is complete. They figured out the formula...the Great Abilities super secret formula.
Very cool how it's all coming together now.
Later gators,
Heather 15 octobre If You Gaze Long Into An Abyss......the abyss will gaze back into you. The title of this episode is called 'Angels and Monsters'. Sticking with the theme from all season....we'll get back to that later. We start off with Nathan and Tracy in bed. And Nathan is narrating the opening, which is a first I think. He says he's been given a second chance, that he has been touched by God. Before he was plagued by demons. And he wonders, am I an angel or a monster, hero or villain? And why can't I see the difference? AHA! Eureka! Excellent question to ask at the beginning of this show...pay attention now, pay close attention...see if you can point out all the angels and all the monsters.
Nathan gets out of bed and wanders into the kitchen where Linderman's ghost is waiting for him. Nathan wants some answers from this guy, me too!! Linderman says, you have received guidance from a higher power. But Nathan scoffs at him, you're no messenger from God! Linderman promises that the answers will come to Nathan eventually because God resides within us. Hmmmm....that's actually kind of inspirational, if it wasn't for the creepiness factor of Linderman. [p.s. Angels are messengers from God, so he's essentially saying, you're no angel.]
Now we're with Suresh, who is lurking in the park. It seems like he's doing a lot of lurking these days. He's eyeballing a drug dealer and I think he's probably going to go all 'Hero' on us and kill this guy like he killed the wifebeater...but he doesn't. Instead of drugs, he tells the guy he needs him. Whatever that means. Maybe he's going to eat him.
In Sylar's cell, Peter is yelling at him - he will never be like his brother! He gets so mad, he breaks Sylar's neck. Oh my. Sibling rivalry is no joke in this family. Evil Mom is peering in through the observation window and runs in to stop Peter. Peter freezes her and yells at her, what else are you hiding from me!! She doesn't say anything, or he really doesn't give her a chance to say anything, before he starts slicing her head open. Um, Peter....that's your mom dude. So Sylar unbreaks his neck and throws Peter up against the wall to knock him unconscious. And then Papa B shows up (HRG stands for horn-rimmed glasses, by the way...they refer to him that way a lot in this show) and tells Sylar they have another lead on a Section 5 escapee. He's got that boy rapped around his little finger. They're a very interesting pair, these two. One of us and one of them. One's good and one's bad....right?
There was no cheerleading retreat, the Dumb Mom is onto Claire Bear. Firestarter says, don't worry I'll find her. Mama B shows her a picture of a Vortex guy, who sucks people into vortices and makes them disappear forever. But then Firestarter picks up a picture of a guy she recognizes and says....oooo, I hope she didn't go see him. Way to put her mind at ease, Firestarter. Mama B wants to help, but Firestarter is like, no you're useless. Cut to Claire Bear who sneaks up on Vortex guy in his empty home and tasers him. Nice! But the guy didn't really sound all that evil....
So now we're in the cemetary where Hiro and Ando have dug up Adam, who is choking Hiro. Hiro says, we need your help and Adam says no. So Hiro blips him back into the coffin. When Adam agrees to help, Hiro blips him back out. Adam says, I told them to get rid of that formula. And then he blames the whole thing on Angela. But Angela is the one who enlisted Hiro and Ando...so Adam has a plan to figure out whodunit!
Now Flash Fancypants is talking to the Linderman vision at some place called Pinehearst. What is that? Sounds like an insane asylum. Linderman wants her to recruit people for a fight. He points to a file of pictures on the bench and as she's leafing through it, we see Fear guy and Suresh. He says, find the others.
Sylar and Papa B are on their way to get one of the Section 5ers. Sylar says, cut me some slack, I'm trying to be good. And Papa B says, I get it, killing is just in your nature. Huh. Pot? Kettle? Anyway, Claire Bear says she's taking Vorty in, but he wants to say goodbye to his family which he never got a chance to do before. He says to her "you want to believe I'm a monster". Then he sucks her taser into a vortex.
Back to Mohinder, and he's dragging his drug dealer snack back into the lab. Man, he looks gross. Maya shows up again...she always has such bad timing. Suresh is acting all creepy....don't TOUCH him MAYA!!! Maya shows Suresh the Missing poster of the wifebeater neighbor and then she sees the incriminating blood trail and gets the hell out of there. Suresh gets back to munching on his drug dealer and we see the neighbor cocooned in the corner. AHA! "Will you walk into my parlour?" said the Spider to the Fly. He's the real Spiderman.
Back with Vorty and Claire Bear, and he realizes she's not with the Company. One of us and one of them, she has no partner. He asks if she's with Pinehearst....what the hell is that? Apparently, he accidentally killed his neighbor. And now Claire Bear feels all bad and wants to help him. So.....if you accidentally kill someone....it's ok.
Back to the Tracy and Nathan Show. Nathan is worried about her...you know, because she tried to commit suicide and all. What's wrong? Nothing. Translation from Woman-speak - "EVERYTHING!!" <chuckle> She admits she accidentally killed the reporter. Lots of accidental killing going on here, huh? She wants to confess, and Nathan convinces her that's no good. He tells her about the assassination press conference, how he died, saw God and is now sure that he has a higher purpose. Tracy is like, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight...you think God gave us these powers? Oh no, it was Doctor Frankenstein.
Back to Claire Bear and she finds Vorty's family phone number in the Company file. He calls them to set up a meeting but then Papa B shows up. Oh my. Quite the stand-off. Claire Bear is like what are you doing here? And Papa B is like what are YOU doing here? Vorty grabs Claire Bear and then Sylar walks in and Claire Bear gets That Look on her face, like - oh no you di-idn't. Vorty opens up a distraction vortex so that he can run away and Claire Bear almost gets sucked in, but Sylar grabs her and you can tell she doesn't want to be touching him. The vortex closes by itself and Sylar tries to apologize to Claire Bear and Papa B says, you don't get to talk to her. Hmmmmm....I'm starting to get annoyed with Papa B and feel sorry for Sylar....that's no good. Claire Bear tries to convince Papa B that Vorty is an ok guy, despite having accidentally killed someone...she says, he just didn't have someone like you to help him. Awwwww....but Papa B doesn't seem phased by this argument and Claire Bear ends up telling them where Vorty went after Papa B promises to make other arrangements for the guy.
Hiro, Ando and Adam are at some bar. This is where people go to find Specials For Hire. Hiro says, oh like the Cantina. HAHAHAHAHAHA...inside sci-fi nerd joke alert! Adam ends up getting in a fight and Hiro gets hit and knocked out. Adam runs away. And Ando is useless, as usual.
Evil Mom has put Peter into a medically-induced coma to keep him from slicing her head open again....thanks for giving parents some more ideas for disciplining their kids. Nathan and Tracy are there and Evil Mom explains he has Sylar's powers now. She knows who Tracy is and explains that she can't help, Doctor Frankenstein's work was classified. He developed synthetic abilities and injected it into the triplets...and oh by the way, you too Nathan. WHAT!! I thought everybody in that family had Abilities?? Nathan was the black sheep, I guess.
Maya is back in the lab because she is nosy and meddling. She is looking at the cocooned snacks and the neighbor's eyes pop open. That kind of freaked me out! So Maya tries to get him loose, but due to her impeccable timing, Suresh walks in and she has to hide. Suresh knows someone has been there. "The Spider turned him round about, and went into his den, For well he knew the Silly Fly would soon come back again; So he wove a subtle web, in a little corner sly; And set his table ready, to dine upon the Fly." Maya gets so freaked out, she goes all black-eyed. Suresh says, you don't want to be a killer again, do you? Maya asks, what have you done? You're a monster. And Suresh looks at her....like a monster....and says, I wish you hadn't said that. Yikes!!
Hiro and Ando can't find Adam, because he is hiding in a trash bin. But when he jumps out, Fear guy is there to snatch him up and throw him in a van.
Back at Primatech and Nathan and Tracy are looking at their medical records. Nathan says, you were playing God. And Evil Mom says, we were trying to be better than God. <smile> Nice. Evil Mom now has the gumption to ask Tracy for help finding the formula...I guess she thinks Hiro is a loser. She needs help to stop the bad guys, she explains this is why Peter did what he did. Nathan walks out and leaves her. Then he suggests to Tracy that they go get help from Suresh. Hmmmmm....not such a good idea. Cut back to Suresh, and he is cocooning Maya in another corner of the room. "He dragged her up his winding stair, into his dismal den; Within his little parlour - but she ne'er came out again!"
Vorty is at the carousel and Claire Bear says, don't worry I talked to my daddy and he's willing to listen. <skeptical look> But Vorty's family never showed up, they're afraid of him and now he's really sad. "Maybe I am a monster." Maybe? Do monsters even ask that question? Papa B shows up, pointing his gun at Vorty again and says, I'll let you go if you kill my partner. AHA! Claire Bear is quite taken aback...Vorty thinks they're all nuts. He says, I'm not a killer. Sylar can tell something is up, but he's too far away. Vorty, after pointing out that the Company took everything from him, sucks himself into a vortex and disappears forever.
Hiro and Ando are back in the bar and Ando is lamenting about how they're the worst heroes ever. Yeah...pretty much. And just when they think it can't get worse, Flash Fancypants shows up. She says, I heard you're looking for work and didn't believe it. Hiro goes along with it and says, yes sign us up. Flash says, no you have to prove yourselves, so Fear guy suggests that Hiro kill Ando (with a sword hung conveniently nearby). No way. No way he's going to do this. But he does, and looking at Ando with blood running down the front of him, he says I have to make some sacrifices. I thought for a second that must be fake, Hiro must have frozen time to set something up....but remember Flash can see him when he freezes time. I think he really stabbed him! This must be when Ando turns into a villain....getting stabbed would make me bitter too, I don't blame him.
Papa B drives Claire home and explains that he did what he had to do. Sylar says, don't bother. Claire finally sees you for what you are...he thinks I'm nothing but a monster. He doesn't see our humanity. That's an interesting argument....nothing but a monster? Can you be something and a monster? Papa B defends his actions - I was only trying to protect this family. Tell me you understand Claire Bear. And she says....I understand, in that way that tells you she understands a lot more than just his motives. When she goes inside Mama B says, I'm glad Firestarter found you. Uh oh....Firestarter didn't find her....where is Firestarter? Cut to Firestarter having dinner with some guy. He's controlling her actions. He's making her eat. And then he makes her kiss him. Ewwwww...that's gross. The camera pans out and we get to see his puppets. Of course, the Puppetmaster.
Evil Mom is in her office now and she dozes off. She dreams about the future, and hears someone scream. She walks into the hall and sees Tracy dead, Nathan dead and Peter dead. She turns around and some guy is talking to her. He says her power to see into the future is too dangerous and she has to go. She says, oh no, I'll stop you. And he says, how? You won't be able to move. He has a ring on...did you see that? When Evil Mom wakes up from the dream, she is still sitting at the desk..................and she can't move.
Flash Fancypants is back at Pinehearst where the Linderman vision is waiting. She tells him this is not cool, I'm not a killer. I'm sure it was an accident sweetheart, no worries. Linderman says, you need to find one more but this one will be difficult. It's Parkman. Then Flashy proves that Linderman is some kind of vision. That's interesting....and Nathan just assumed he was crazy. So she's off to find Parkman now. And then from around the corner, we see Parkman's dad walking. Um....wait a minute. Isn't that guy dead? Oh no...not dead, he was actually just trapped in his own head the last time we saw him. Ok. He walks into the Pinehearst building into a room where someone is on life support. But this comatose patient is apparently still communicating with Papa P. Papa P assures the patient that the team is coming together, they are building an army, Fear guy will be here tomorrow with Adam. And then he calls the patient, Mr. Petrelli. Oh.....that's just brilliant. Just brilliant.
So Angel or Monster? Hero or Villain? Kind of the same theme we've been wrestling with all season. Are any of them really one or the other? Or are they all, both? Our heroes seem to be killers (Tracy, Hiro) and our villains don't feel as bad anymore (Sylar, Flashy, Evil Mom). The argument is very similar to what was posed in the movie 'Gods and Monsters' with Sir Ian McKellen. Great movie by the way, you should see it if you haven't. Anyway, the argument is that every human is both a god and a monster. Both superhuman and sub-human. That's our balance. The scales of civilized society require us to be a little bit good and a little bit bad. When Vorty said to Claire Bear, you want to believe I'm a monster. Well of course she does. We all do. That justifies killing you or locking you up and throwing away the key. People in prison or on death row are monsters. They have to be. I like the fact that they chose angels and monsters for the title though. Angels fall and monsters are not necessarily evil, just frightening. Angela obviously refers to Angel, so does Gabriel (who coincidentally seems to be turning good). The frightening would of course be Suresh, who I think we can safely call a monster. Peter maybe too. Or maybe the "monsters" are all the people with synthetic abilities. Like Frankenstein's monster, they were made. They were manufactured. They are unnatural. And people fear them because of that....people want to believe monsters are evil so they feel justified in their fear. The angels who are, by definition, all "holy" were born with their abilities. But they can be good or bad. With God or against Him. Messenger or demon. Yeah.....definitely....that makes more sense.
No questions this week since I figured it all out. <smile> My brain is tired.
Later gators,
Heather 7 octobre The Manhattan ProjectI am suffering from a very irritating cold right now people...not sick enough to stay home without feeling guilty...but not well enough to make it through the day in the office without being miserable. So...because I'm a masochist apparently, I have decided to go to work. Which, of course, did not prevent me from staying up to watch the best show on TV (almost). Let's start with the title of this episode 'I am become death.' Did you recognize it? Robert Oppenheimer referred to this quote from the Hindu scripture Bhagavad Gita during an interview in 1965 describing his reaction on the morning of July 16, 1945 when the first nuclear bomb detonated at the Trinity test site in New Mexico (Hiroshima was the second). I cannot even imagine the feelings of those men...the mixed reaction from their accomplishment but also knowing what it was capable of and how it would be used. I don't think I'd be comfortable knowing my mind contributed to a mass execution. I'm not saying I would be a better war tactician, that I would have been able to avoid the succession of events that led this nation to that decision...that's not it at all. There are people programmed for that sort of thing, and just to be my normal sexist self, those people are usually men. Men seem to have this uncanny ability to "turn off" when it comes to pulling the trigger, or detonating a nuclear bomb. <shaking my head> I couldn't do that. And in general, I don't think many women could...that's the difference. Men automatically fight because they turn something off in their brain, they don't think about consequences or reasons, they start kicking ass. Women, on the other hand, usually have to be provoked and fight emotionally - you touch my kid and I will decapitate you. Hell hath no fury....there isn't a right or a wrong between the two though. We need people out there who can make decisions like that....as much as we all hate to admit it. We need people on that wall. The full quote is "I am become death, the destroyer of worlds." Oppenheimer could read sanskrit and so the translation is his own....no other translation said it quite like that.....
And here is Suresh to start off the show. Just when I was getting annoyed that they were ignoring him. Here he is...still melting. He is talking into his little microphone recorder thing and calling it an "adverse reaction". Ok, Suresh. That's a really nice way of saying your skin is falling off. And then they show us he's a big bully now. He hears his neighbors fighting, goes over there and beats up a wifebeater. Hmmmm...it's all very borderline, as usual. What he's doing makes him seem like he should be a hero....and yet....he just doesn't feel like a hero, does he?
Tracy is still talking to Dr. Frankenstein and finds out that she's one of THREE triplets! Oh really, there was Niki, her and someone called Barbara...I think that's what the guy said...although it sounded like Baba, so I might be wrong. He's telling her they manipulated the DNA, but he doesn't seem to know what she can do. He worked for a Company, but he can't remember...they made him forget. Yeah, yeah, we get it. So Tracy gets mad and almost freezes him to death. But then she doesn't. Now she just wants to find out who did this to her. So....some of the people have abilities they were born with and some of them were given abilities. That's very interesting.
Parkman is still in the desert. He's on his spirit walk/white eyes bug-out/seeing into the future thing. He's seeing New York in the future.
And here are the Peters. Hmmmmm....Future Peter and Present Peter....really can't get enough of Peter Petrelli. Present Peter says everything looks the same (even though they are four years in the future in NY). Remember, Future Peter blipped him away to show him what was going to happen. Everything the same, but then...everyone starts flying. It's creepy. It reminded me of the Matrix. Apparently, in the future, you can buy some kind of injection that gives you abilities....I guess Suresh figures it out in the end, huh. Future Peter says that the Human Race cannot control themselves, and end up doing all kinds of damage with their abilities...but Present Peter can't believe that. Jesus, he is the most naive person. Why the hell does Future Peter have a scar, by the way? That's been bothering me for a while now....so anyway, he says you have to stop Suresh. Well...obviously. And then he says, find Sylar. He's the only one who can help. What huh? Sylar? And then he says, Suresh and Claire and Nathan are not who you think they are....oh BOY!! Are they villains??? That would be awwwWWWWwwwesome!! And then they show up. The Fear Guy (he really needs a better nickname, I know) and Claire in her evil villain outfit. We know she's bad now because her hair is dyed darker...which is obviously a sign of being evil. She shoots Future Peter and kills him....uhhhhh....isn't he her uncle? And then she sees Present Peter and goes to shoot him too, but he gets away. Flash Fancypants is there too. Fear and Claire say they need Molly to find Peter. Oh really? Molly? I was wondering what happened to her. And Flashypants seems to know Molly for some reason that has not been explained yet...because she is hesitant about it.
Hiro and Ando are still locked up at the Company. They are in Section 2 and Ando is refusing to help Hiro escape because he's a big baby. Waaawaaaa, you said you didn't need me. Oh...for crying out loud. He DOESN'T need you, you moron!!
Nathan is in his office picking out furniture. Tracy is no where to be found. But invisible Linderman is there to give advice....Nathan wants to know what he is....yeah, me too. Linderman apparently wants Nathan to be President. Oh, that's rich.
So Maya shows up at the lab to help Suresh but he's being a big butthead...and she storms off. He says into his recorder, 'Journal Entry 13 - the formula is transforming me. I fear what I am becoming.' And you should Suresh. So, is he become death? His formula apparently is what ends it all....so yeah, I'd say he is the destroyer of worlds. Jump to the future and Peter (the only one left now, pouty face) is at the lab looking for Suresh. But Suresh has changed....he's in the shadows, in a hood and his voice sounds different. Suresh says, do not repeat my mistakes. But Peter wants to find Sylar. Suresh says, I wanted abilities, but the formula is wrong, do not repeat my mistakes. Oh boy. So Peter reads his mind...remember he can do that, and finds out that Sylar is at the Bennett house in Costa Verde. And he's off...to the Bennett house, which may not be the Bennett house since Sylar is there. So he just walks in the house, and look who it is....Sylar playing Dad. This is kind of creepy. And there's that stupid dog. Sylar is acting really nice to Peter and then the kid (named Noah!!!) says, Uncle Peter, where's your scar? AHA!! Brilliant kid. Is that Sylar's kid? Anyway, Sylar realizes Peter is from the Past, our Present, and tells him kind of abruptly that they're brothers. Peter might fall down he's getting hit with so much info right now. Peter says, I need to understand your abilities, and Sylar says, you don't want my abilities. My abilities come with a Hunger. Like being a vampire, right? An Abilities-sucking Vampire. Sylar says, listen Peter, the world always needs saving. I'm not going to help you. It's a struggle for me everyday to resist the Hunger. And Peter says, ok then, paint the future and see for yourself. So he does.
Now we're with Parkman in the future and apparently he ends up with Flash Fancypants and they have a kid too. Everybody has a kid now....and they argue about helping the Cause and getting Molly involved. Apparently in the future Peter is some kind of crazy guy and everyone wants to stop him...it's a little confusing honestly. But in the end, Molly finds out where he is - at the Bennetts and Claire and Fear Guy and Flashypants are off to kill him.
So Sylar is giving Peter his powers. He says, fix the watch and then you'll understand. That's very very cryptic. He hands Peter that same broken watch from season 1. More cryptic than I am used to from this show...so Peter fixes the watch and poof! he has Sylar's powers. Very weird. The kid starts screaming from the other room, and they turn around to see the bad guys holding Noah. Claire says, I'm going to kill you or that kid. So Sylar and Peter are brothers, that makes Sylar one of Claire's uncles too and Noah would be her cousin? When did she turn so evil? She yells at Sylar at some point that he took everything from her....hmmm...a story for another episode I guess. Peter asks, What happened to you Claire? And now Peter is fighting them, Flashypants is really kicking the snot out of him. And then Fear Guy tries to beat up Sylar and Sylar is like, I'm not afraid of you...yeah, but your kid is....Sylar yells at Noah to hide. Fear Guy picks up Sylar and throws him across the room. A table smashes into Noah and kills the kid.
And now. You're all gonna die.
Everybody stops. Stops moving. Stops breathing. Sylar starts to glow, like the Fire guy...remember? And Peter at the end of the first season, remember? And then Sylar explodes, no one flies him into the atmo...he just explodes and takes all of Costa Verde with him.
Hiro and Ando are still trying to escape the Company. But they keep squabbling with each other. Hiro wants to escape through the vent, but he can't get up there without Ando...aha! You do need a sidekick shorty. Finally Hiro gets into the vent, but don't turn around now. The Haitian is in the cell with them! Uh oh.
Tracy tries to confess to the police about killing that reporter but just ends up freezing the phone. Back to Suresh and he can't reverse the formula. Now he's gooey....and I think we're in trouble. The wifebeater shows up and Suresh grabs him and pulls him in and probably eats him. Or just kills him. Yeah....I guess he probably just kills him. But eating him would have been gross...back to Tracy in Nathan's office. She's resigning, and she says, I know what I have to do now. Huh? What? What do you have to do now? So she leaves and imaginary Linderman says, you have to pray for guidance. You have to help her. Yeah Nathan, HELP HER!! She's at the bridge, and wants to jump. That's sad. She thinks the only thing she can do is kill herself. Seems noble though...is she going to turn evil too? Anyway, she steps off the bridge and Nathan swoops in and grabs her. Just like Superman. Back at somebody's apartment and they are sitting in awkward silence. Then Tracy goes, so....uh....you can fly? Heehee. Now that's a rhetorical question. Then she shows him her ice queen abilities...and then they kiss. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
Back to the future and Nathan is President, Tracy is the First Lady and they are making a speech about how Costa Verde was blasted off the face of the planet. Peter is on a slab next to dead Future Peter. Claire walks in with the Haitian, so that Peter cannot blip away, He's pleading with her to let him fix things. "I saved you once, I can save you again." And then she starts cutting him, I'm going to make you hurt for every single one of those people you destroyed (meaning Costa Verde, meaning she blames him for Sylar blowing up). Is this how he gets the scar? Then Nathan shows up and tells Claire to leave them alone. He starts untying Peter and says, I know what you're doing. One man alone cannot save the world. You need an army. An army of people with abilities. He's building an army of superheroes...probably not a good idea.....there's probably no turning back from that. Like building a bomb that can poke holes in the planet. He swears that his intentions are good (aren't they always) and asks Peter to read his mind. Peter does that, and then goes a little wacky....either he didn't like what he saw in Nathan's head, or he's got the Hunger. He throws Nathan up against the wall and then slices his skull open. And then Nathan falls to the ground. And Peter blips away.
He blips to Section 5 with Sylar, who immediately recognizes that Peter has the same abilities. Peter yells at him that he will never succomb to it...and Sylar says....but we're brothers. Peter says, I'll never be like you and Sylar smiles that Cheshire cat smile, you already are. Nice.
Parkman is still on his spriti walk/vision quest thing. Molly thinks it's her fault that Costa Verde exploded and she and Parkman are worried about Flashypants. She shows up at the door and for a split second you think everything is ok, and then her face falls, I wasn't fast enough. Oh crap. That's the picture!! Right?? She falls in his arms, and poof! he wakes up from the white eye balls thing. The African guy says he needs to find his totem, his spirit guide. And Parkman goes, what is that? some African hoodoo voodoo? And the African guy goes, no, it's Carl Jung. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Don't you read? HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA. Funny writing. He says, think about your dream and you will find your guide. So Parkman starts following the turtle. I think I would have picked something a little faster than the Slowskys.
Back at the Company and Evil Mom is having a chat with Hiro and Ando. She asks, where is the formula? Gone. She says, that formula turns you into us. Hiro is despondent and apologizes, and Ando says, oh no - Hiro is going to save the world. <chuckle> They are so dorky. Evil Mom says, with another Cheshire cat grin, good. You're the only one who can save us. You have the key that unlocks the entire mystery. And you know what she's talking about just like I did. They're digging up a coffin, and it's one of two people. Sulu or .....yup. It's Adam. Eyes pop open and he grabs Hiro by the next and we're done.
I love the writing on this show. It's very clever. Comparing nukes to abilities is a genius analogy. But then this whole idea that some of the heroes were born with their abilities (like the Petrelli family) and some of the heroes were given their abilities (like Suresh and Tracy)....some of them turn bad even though they have good intentions (Claire?) and some of them turn good even though they had bad intentions (Sylar). Like building a bomb to protect your nation...only to find yourself staring down nuclear weapons constructed by an axis of evil more than half a century later. Can there really be a "good" side to that argument? Are the trade-offs ever worth it? And some of them are just hungry for power....like a drug.....
And of course I have a thousand questions. Is Suresh going to turn into some kind of bug? Like the Fly? Flashypants was obviously not working for Adam...so who is it? Who has the formula now? What made Claire turn evil? Is it the same thing that makes Ando evil? How did Sylar end up in Claire Bear's house and was that Sylar's kid? Or Claire's? And where are the Bennett's in the future? How did Future Peter get that scar? How is Adam the key to the formula? How are Sylar's abilities going to help Peter save the world? <sigh> And now that Peter has the Hunger....does that make him the destroyer of worlds? He almost blew everything up once before? And by the by....since he survived the Costa Verde explosion, does that mean he can live forever too?
I like the fact that we don't really know who the villains are yet....and if Peter can change things....some people will never become villains. Is that possible? Is it possible to not become evil, if you already had it in you? There's that whole nature vs. nurture theory....born with abilities vs. injected with them. Can the human race ever avoid being villainous? If it wasn't the Bomb....it probably would have been something else. We have a remarkable talent for killing ourselves. Did I mention I love this show.

30 septembre Are You a Good Witch or a Bad Witch? It's Monday and besides even more football being on the television...we've got one of the best shows to look forward to!! This episode is called "One of Us, One of Them"...which certainly gets you thinking. Everyone has a hero in them...and a villain. Which one wins the day? That's the important question for us all I guess. And the important question for our cast of characters. We start right where we left off with Evil Mom making goo goo eyes at Sylar, explaining that she is his real mom. She seems to be freaking him out...but I'm not sure why. I mean, she is kind of creepy but now at least he knows he has a mom...that's alive. This episode skipped around all over the place by the way, more than usual I think. First Nathan is asking Future Peter, what the hell? He got the message from Current Peter saying he was trapped in some body...somebody else's body. Current Peter is in New York somewhere with the gang of villains and they have decided to hold up a bank. How cliche....I mean really....a bank?
Papa B is back at Section 5 and Evil Mom is like, yeah I knew you'd be back. He sets the record straight and says, I'm here to get the bad guys and then I'm done. But he needs a partner. The Haitian is "unavailable", whatever that means...and Papa B is like, I need someone else. That's how it works...one of us and one of them. AHA! Eureka!! They gave us the title very early this time. Ok. And here's the kicker for Papa B...his new partner? Why the lovable Sylar, of course. Papa bugs out his eyes and says, oh no, I'm gonna kill that guy. Which of course he can't. Evil Mom thinks Sylar can be rehabilitated or something...which is obviously ridiculous. The guy is a killer. Come on...you don't change that.
Claire Bear is having issues at home now. Fire Mom is having issues with the Clueless One. I'm not going to school...oh yes, you are. Blah blah blah. Algebra doesn't really compare to saving the world, Clueless. Just a tip. Hiro and Ando are tracking Flashypants in Germany. When they all run in to each other...they suddenly discover that none of them have their powers. Huh. Someone who can drain your powers away....ah yes.....I think I know why the Haitian was unavailable now. And I was right!! There he is, with a briefcase. Hiro thinks it's the other half of the formula. So everybody goes in to this movie theater to watch the Haitian. Flashypants called Hiro, Pikachu...which is hysterical.
Nathan goes to find Tracy, aka Niki, aka The Ice Queen since she never bothered to show up for work. She says who do you think I am? And shows him the video and he's like, are ya sure that's not you? HAHAHAHAHA....typical guy. She's off to Nawlin's to find her slutty twin. The police are at the bank with the villains now, and we find out that the whole thing is a set-up to get Papa B to show up for some revenge. The Scary One (feeds of people's fear) killed the telekinetic one, kind of for no reason, but whatever. He's drunk on power, I can understand that.
Parkman is still in the stupid desert. The African guy is showing him all the paintings he's done of Parkman showing the entire course of events, all the way up to last painting which Parkman doesn't recognize. The African guy says, this was your future but not anymore. So he paints over it, gets the white eyes and starts prognosticating. Sylar is ready to go fight bad guys now that he has a snazzy suit on. Evil Mom is telling him to have fun on his first day of school. Yeah yeah. Papa B thinks the guy is a chump.
Then we jump back to the Haitian in the movie theater, and some chit chat with Flashypants. Hiro is afraid she's putting ideas into Ando's head. Of course she is...Ando turns into a villain remember? And right back to the bank where Current Peter is trying to talk down the Scary Guy...except he messed up. That whole "your family is from Detroit" thing was such a set-up Peter!! Why did you fall for that?? But Papa B and Sylar have arrived to save the day. Back to the Haitian who is getting the other half of the formula and Hiro comes up with a plan to nab it from him. Back to the bank and Sylar wants to help but Papa B says Ohhhhhhhh nooooooooo. You stay right here.
The Ice Queen is in Nawlins already and she's walking in to a funeral parlor. I am assuming there's not gonna be a body in that casket...but there is. Yeah, there's Niki. Dead and all. Huh...so the Ice Queen is freaking out and then Micah shows up (Niki's son) and knows immediately that she's not his mom. Yeah, your mom is dead remember? So Micah helps her find out if there was any connection between his mom and the Ice Queen. Apparently, they were born in the same hospital on the same day by the same doctor. Wow....this sounds like one of those Mensa riddles....so now the Ice Queen has a name to track down. Say goodbye Micah.
Hiro distracts the Haitian and Ando bonks him over the head. While he's knocked unconscious, Flashypants grabs the formula but when Hiro tries to freeze time, he can't. Uh oh. Somebody's awake again!! The Haitian is not pleased. I'll say...now whoever Flashypants works for will have the whole formula!! Back at the bank and Papa B is facing down the villains. Current Peter discovers, kind of by accident, what his power is....sound. Really? That's kind of a lame power but whatever. He echose the Fire Guy into the corner and turns on the Scary Guy when everything goes still. At first, I thought it was Sylar...but no...it's Future Peter come to push Current Peter out of the ugly villain body. Current is yelling at Future and wow, I really can't get enough Peter Petrelli....so anyway, Future says, I can't explain this to you, I have to show you and they blip away. But that leaves Papa B with the Sound Guy totally exposed until Sylar shows up. What a BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN. I think he may want to be a good guy...but he's just not. He's a villain. No ifs, ands, or buts. He slices open the Sound guy, Scary guy gets away, so Fire guy is the only one they end up actually arresting.
Fire Mom is trying to teach Claire Bear how to fight by suffocating her in a big shipping container. Apparently, the first step to learning how to fight is learning how to defend herself. Why is she suffocating by the way? Shouldn't she be able to not breathe? I guess not...I guess she'd have to die first and then come back. Maybe she can learn how to hold her breath for a really long time. Heehee....ok, so the real point of this little exercise was to get Claire Bear to admit that she wants to fight bad guys so she can get back at Sylar and make him hurt like he made her hurt. Of course...we all kind of knew that.
The Ice Queen has found Dr. Frankenstein (actually Zimmerman, but F is more appropriate). He says, oh you're the one from Beverly Hills. What, huh? Icey is like, do you know me? He says, know you? I created you. See...the Frankenstein name IS more appropriate.
Parkman sees his new future painted by the African. It looks like he's holding someone who is hurt...hard to say exactly. So now, Parkman wants to go on his spirit walk. Um....what the hell has he been doing in the desert? Half of his face has been burnt off from being in the sun so long. Argh...whatever...so the African gives him some kind of potion. Probably peyote. Parkman doesn't feel anything, so the African gives him his headphones and says, try this. And BOOM, his eyes go all white.
Time for Suresh's voiceover. Nathan is reading Genesis (ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, ironic considering that was the name of the first season), Claire Bear pretends to be going on a cheerleading sleepover thing but she's really off to hunt bad guys. The Haitian apparently arrested Hiro and Ando and brought them to Section 5. Sylar gets to go back in his cell for the night and Papa B gets to talk to his old partner, the Haitian. He wants to know if he's being replaced, and Papa B says, only for a little while. I need to discover his weakness. So I can kill him. But.....if you discover his weakness....that means you will have discovered Claire Bear's weakness. Right?
Ok so...one of us and one of them. The Villain Hunters from the company have to be a pair - one of us and one of them, in Papa B's words. And obviously, Papa B will end up being the hero and Sylar will be the villain. Right? Except Evil Mom pointed out that they're an awful lot alike. Oh yeah, they are. Then there's Hiro and Ando. One of us and one of them. Hiro's the hero and Ando....the villain? Yeah, I think so. And then, there's the Peters. <chuckle> Future Peter and Current Peter. But which is which. And there's the Ice Queen and Niki. Except Niki had one of us and one of them in her all the time, remember? Split personalities....except Zimmerman made them. And if they're twins...one is always good and one is always bad. So...one of us and one of them might not actually refer to one person with powers and one person without....it might just refer to one hero and one villain. The balance.
Questions, questions, questions. Who is Flashypants working for? Adam maybe? Where did Linderman go? We didn't see him at all this episode. And isn't Suresh melting? Why'd they leave that one alone? And I hope these Villains...the ones that escaped from Section 5 aren't the only villains because they kind of suck. And what was playing on those headphones that Parkman put on that made him go all buggy? And when is he getting out the desert? And what is Future Peter going to be showing Current Peter...didn't the future change when he shot Nathan? Questions, questions, questions. That's why I keep watching.

23 septembre How To Survive In the Desert by the SlowskysYes, yes, I know the best show ever was on for two hours last night. Don't worry naggers....I didn't miss anything. I just have to...you know....work from time to time. Make enough money to keep the cable on and all that. So part 2, entitled The Butterfly Effect, begins with Claire Bear talking to Mama B about how she doesn't feel anything anymore...the pain is gone and that was all she had that reminded her she was human. That was kind of really sad.
Evil Mom is dreaming a little dream about everyone being dead. And now we get to see the Villains, panning from one to the next. All new characters...this is gonna be great. So after her dream, Mom visits Future Peter to tell him about it and how much he's screwed everything up. She says, you don't screw with Time. Just ask Marty McFly. She says, Claire Bear wasn't supposed to be home. And now everything is messed up. And it's all your fault. Again...just paraphrasing.
Maya shows up in the lab looking for Suresh. He's Spiderman!! Hanging from the ceiling, acting like a cassanova. What has gotten into him? Oh yeah....he injected himself with hero steroids. Wonder if that has any side effects? <read that very sarcastically>
And Parkman is still in the desert.
Here's Bing. You remember, he's the head of the Evil Company. He's talking to Baby Bing (Elle) being his usual supportive self, telling her Sylar got away and it's her fault and you're a loser and blah blah blah. Now we're back with Hiro and after Flash Fancypants destroyed his office with her whirlwind, he's trying to figure out who she is...but uh oh....he doesn't trust Ando anymore. So sad. But he does figure out who Flash Fancypants is and they're off to Germany or some place. Here is Niki Saunders again, now apparently going by Tracy Strauss, and talking with that politician again. She wants Nathan to be in on their reindeer games...yeah, I bet she does. So, she's walking out to her car in the parking garage and what's this? Believe it or not...I'm walking on air. Flying away on a wing and a prayer. <chuckle> Nice touch to the producers/director. So anyway, our Greatest American Reporter is talking about a stripper scandal and of course Niki/Tracy denies being a stripper...when we all know she was one.
So Claire Bear is off recording her escapades again. This time she's trying to get hit by a train and survive. Well...maybe survive. Maybe not. Future Peter flies in and saves her. She explains that she was just trying to feel something again and asks for Future Peter's help teaching her how to defend herself. And he says no. It can't be me. And of course, we all know why it can't be him. But she doesn't know. And is this when she starts to go bad? Is this the moment? Back with Niki/Tracy and she's visiting with Nathan to convince him to play politics again and he recognizes her as Niki...but of course she has no idea what he's talking about....riiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Oh wait. I think she actually doesn't know. Huh. That's interesting. After she leaves, Linderman shows up again until Nathan tells him to leave.
Baby Bing goes to chat with Bing for some more punishment...and oh dear, he's not not listening Baby. He's dead. So Elle goes to get Papa B because remember he used to catch Villains in a past life and he shoots Sylar. The bullets fall out. And now we're really in some trouble. Everyone goes flying and Sylar turns on Elle, ready to get up close and personal with her cranium....except when he tries to slice open her skullcap, she kind of explodes and zaps him across the room. Apparently, she short-circuited the whole building because there go all the villains.
Hiro tells Ando why he doesn't trust Ando anymore, so that's out in the open. Poor Hiro. He thought Adam was his friend too. Red flames though....I think Ando is headed to the dark side. Future Peter shows up to see Nathan. He's conflicted about the job offer, so just to clear his plate a bit, Future Peter decides to tell Nathan who he is and why he's here. He needs Nathan's forgiveness and explains he's going to set things right. Good good. We need Peter to save the day. It all started with him....sort of.
Niki gets confronted by the Greatest American Reporter again, who has video now to back up his stripper scandal story. She freaks out and freezes him. HOW BATMAN!! The GAR breaks into a thousand tiny little pieces and now she's really freaked herself out. Sylar is back in a cell and apparently unconscious. Evil Mom shows up and now she's Queen of the Castle. Elle is fired...but something tells me, we'll see her again.
The game is afoot! Hiro and Ando are off to get the formula back and are now in Flash Fancypant's apartment. But where is it????
Suresh is melting. You mean the hero/villain serum has side effects? NooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooo.
Parkman is still in the desert. And now he's talking to a turtle. He's in Africa? Oh really. This African guy knows who he is apparently...that is kind of spooky. And he is the new Painter. How cool. He painted the planet exploding. Well alrighty then. Looks like Parkman is going to be stuck in the desert for a while.
Papa B is back home, but he's not staying. He has to hunt down all the villains. Claire Bear wants to help. Back with Nathan playing chess with Linderman...who we find out is either invisible or a figment. Papa B is explaining who the villains are and what they can do - using fear, flame, magnetism and sound to destroy things. Papa has to go, but you will be protected Claire Bear. Your real mom, the Firestarter is here.
Future Peter blips to Section 5 and finds out that everyone is gone. He yells at Evil Mom. Apparently the regular Peter, trapped in a villain body, tries to call Nathan...to warn him about Future Peter, but that doesn't work. Evil Mom goes to talk to Sylar. She's comforting him like only an Evil Mom can....and implies that she is his actual mom. What huh?!?!? Peter and Nathan and Sylar are brothers? Or stepbrothers? Oh my oh my.
This is getting really really interesting. We've got a whole new cast of characters and alter egos to meet this season. And apparently....everybody is related.
Later gators,
Heather Falls The ShadowIt's back!! The best show on TV....besides American Idol. And Survivor. Ok, ok, the best show about superheroes....maybe even a little tiny bit better than Smallville. I am so ridiculously excited that this show is back on now. Do you feel like saving the world today? Why yes, yes I do. If you want a recap of last season, go back and read the blogs. That will get you caught up quick. We start off tonight in the future. Four years into the future. Peter is facing down Claire who is pointing a gun at him. He's talking about camps and experiments and how he can make everything alright again, he can go back and fix it. She says, I always loved you. Wow she looks evil here...not very Claire Bear. More Evil Cheerleader. And then she drops the bombshell that I wasn't expecting. He was the assasin that shot Nathan during the season finale!!! WHAT!!! That's crazy. He's the last person I expected it to be. So, flash back to the present and Claire is watching the whole thing on TV and calls Peter. She can save him, with her blood (remember?). But Peter says no, stay there. And then Nathan is in the hospital. And then he's dead. And then he's not.
Huh.
Hiro is the new boss of the company now that Sulu is dead. He's talking to Ando about being a "man without a quest". And then a lawyer delivers a DVD message from the grave, from Sulu. Cut to Claire Bear and there is that ridiculous dog. She is heading out to see Nathan....but too late. Sylar is at the door. After she clonks him on the head with one of her cheerleading trophies, he shuts up the house with his mind, sealing doors and throwing furniture in front of the windows so she can't get out. And so Claire Bear tries the phone....both the Hubby and I thought that was a little bit silly. Really? The phone Claire? I thought the butcher knife was a much better idea, which is what she ended up with. This whole scene reminded me of Scream. He's BEHIND YOU!!! Aaaaaiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
So back to Suresh's apartment and here's Maya. One half of the Super Twins, remember from last season? Remember how annoying she is? So anyway, Suresh says he's off to India, he has nothing left to do here. His work is over. But Maya says, I came all this way for a cure, please help me. Waaaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Nope. I still don't like her. So whiny.
Back to Hiro and Sulu is telling him he has a sacred duty. To protect a dangerous secret. His task? Never open the safe in Sulu's office. <Smile> Oh, reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally? Don't ever tell anybody to never do something....unless you want them to immediately do it. Which of course he does. And the safe? Our figurative Pandora's box (remember that from the end of the season finale?) is holding another tape. Sulu comes on again and says, I told you not to open the safe. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! That was hysterical. So anyway, the secret is a forumla. The only way to protect against it is with the 'light', to safeguard against the darkness. Hmmmm....darkness and light. Good and evil and the fate of the world. And the Flash speeds through the scene and steals the formula...except Hiro freezes time and talks to her before she punches him in the face and speeds off again. A new character. She might not be a villain, not sure yet....but she is a thief.
After Parkman figures out that Peter knew about the assasination....or at least Future Peter knew about the assasination, Future Peter blips him away. Can't be bothered with a meddling Parkman right now. Now Future Peter is after Nathan again...like the Terminator. Nathan ends up in the hospital chapel saying, "I saw God today and now I have to do his bidding. We're all connected (see the poem below people!!) Stewards of our own destiny. (stewards of destiny...you mean like Hiro?) The mission - to save ourselves." I'm paraphrasing there....but seriously a very cool scene.
Now Suresh thinks he can cure Maya. To the lab!! He's taking samples and running tests and it's something to do with adrenaline...honestly I wasn't totally paying attention. But after he's done with his science stuff he announces he can now give powers to anyone. What huh? Maya is obviously disappointed since she thought...you know....he was helping her. She says you should destroy that. But you know he won't. Come on. Pandora's box, remember?
Claire Bear is still in trouble. She is getting a brainectomy from Sylar. He's looking at her brain and saying, it's all here. All the answers. Why is there evil? How many angels dance on the head of a pin? How do you make love stay? [!!] She asks him if he's going to eat her brain. Ewwwwwwwwwwww....Sylar goes, that's disgusting Claire. HAHAHAHAHA...seriously, we went from Scream to Silence of the Lambs. So anyway, he gets her power and now he's Super Sylar!! He's off to Section 5 to get the rest of the villains. My name is Legion, for we are many. She asks why he didn't kill her and he laughs. There's so much you don't know about yourself. You're special Claire. You can never die. And now....neither can I. How did she not figure that out, by the way? Wouldn't that be a pretty safe leap in logic?
Anyway Suresh wants the power for himself, the power that he has created from Maya's blood. And she says no, it's a curse. It's evil and you should destroy it. But you and I both know he's not gonna do that.
Back to Nathan in the hospital and he's talking to Future Peter. He tells Future Peter, all of us, with these powers...we could be angels. But not if someone knew. AHA!! So Nathan passes out again and Future Peter whispers, 'I don't expect you to understand, but I hope you can forgive me.' Ahhhh....that would be an awfullt difficult conversation to have, wouldn't it? And now look who it is? Linderman!! What huh? I thought he was dead? What the hell is going on here? Wasn't he dead? Anyway, <shaking my head> he healed Nathan. He says, you were meant for great things.
Cut to the tv report about Nathan and some politician watching it and talking about how Nathan looks like the perfect shill when in saunters Miss Niki. While the Hubby is hooting and hollering over on the sofa, let me take a moment to remind everyone that the last time we saw her she was in a burning building...that exploded....while her son Micah watched.
Parkman is still in the desert. ..."somewhere in the sands of the desert, a shape with lion body and the head of a man...."
So Hiro blips himself off to the future to see how the whole thing works out now that Fannny Flashpants has stolen the secret formula that determines the fate of the world. He sees Future Ando arguing with Future Hiro about the formula. And then Future Ando fires red gobs of light at Future Hiro and kills him and then the world ends. Whew!! Hiro blips himself back just in the nick of time...but now he sees Ando in a whole new way.
Suresh injects himself with the Hero serum. That was very Batman....wasn't it?
Evil Mom goes to visit Nathan and sees Future Peter and starts in on him. She saw the whole thing in her dreams...she knew what he would do. You've changed everything. The butterfly effect. Future Peter is talking about the forumla and what happens if it gets out. Evil Mom wants to know where regular Peter is and Future says, don't worry. He's safe. Flash to Section 5 where regular Peter has been trapped in some inmate's body.
And here is Suresh, with his narration - 'turning and turning in the widening gyre...' They show us Papa B in Section 5, Claire with her head back on, Parkman...still in the desert, and Suresh with his powers. The new image of the apocalypse is the planet exploding. It was painted on a rock in Parkman's desert and on a billboard behind Suresh on the dock. This is the way world ends. So that was hour one...and it was super cool. Super cool.
Some of them want to be heroes...some of them don't. Some of them want to be villains and some of them want to be angels. Between the essence and the descent...falls the shadow.

4 décembre How Are The Mighty Fallen In the Midst of the Battle! [Samuel 1:25]So last night was the season finale. I was very excited about this episode. I want you to follow along with me now, gentle reader, because everything kind of came together last night in a very eerie way. I am quite certain other people have written about this theory online, but allow me to offer my own slant on it. This may take a while.
Sylar and Maya have broken in to Mohinder’s apartment. Maya (Hindu word for illusion) wants Mohinder to “cure” her. Sylar, aka Gabriel, wants to be “cured” as well. Mohinder is our man in the balance. He is struggling with his choice to be on the side of good or evil. He wanted to bring down the Company, and now he thinks they are worth fighting for. He wants to cure Niki, but he shot Papa B in the eye. Mohinder is very important to this story, despite the fact that he has no Great Ability. He is us. When Mohinder talks about the Shanti virus taking away powers, Maya reveals that Sylar has none. And Mohinder tries to stab him with a butter knife (yes, that was kind of stupid….but stay with me here people), and Sylar points a gun at his head and says he wants some of the Resurrection Blood. Shanti is Sanskrit for inner peace, by the way. Which means one could interpret the “virus” as a way to gain inner peace for our conflicted heroes. Gabriel is our messenger of god, our angel of death, the Left Hand. For Mohinder, he has brought an ultimatum. And a warning about the End of Days? Maya starts freaking out and gets the death eyes….but to keep from killing Mohinder (who can cure her) and an innocent Molly, she stops. It is also extremely ironic to me that Maya feels like she is filled with a sickness, that a virus could possibly cure or the virus could kill her before she kills more people with her own sickness. Irony. I love irony. So everyone is off to Mohinder’s lab to give Gabriel his cure.
Now we’re back in New York. Evil Mom, aka Angela, is explaining to Nathan and Parkman how they got into this situation in the first place. By the way, ‘Angela’ also means messenger. Nathan asks “How long are we going to suffer for your sins?” She tells them that 30 years ago, a group of them came together to change the world, to fix it. A group of them meaning twelve of them. Can you think of another group of 12? A group of twelve whose instructions were to drive out demons, heal the sick, resurrect the dead? A group of twelve who disowns their leader? She tells them Adam decided the world needed to be wiped clean, that it wasn’t worth fixing. This should sound familiar too - [ So God said to Noah, I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both of them and the earth. Genesis 6:13] Evil Mom declares that she realized at the last moment how wrong his plan was. Here’s another interesting coincidence – Nathaniel, Peter, Matthew. Just think about it. Evil Mom then tells them that Peter is the only one who can get to the virus, which is why Adam picked him. She tells them where the virus is being kept and how to kill Adam (bullet to the brain). And then as they’re leaving, she thinks to Parkman “If you can’t stop Peter, you should kill him too.”
So Adam and Peter are at Primatech when time freezes. Hiro is there to kill Adam, and of course Peter cannot let him do it. He that is not with me is against me. (Luke 11:23) Hiro charges with the sword and Peter tries to zap him and Hiro blips away. Hiro yells at Peter – he will betray you!! Betrayal? <are you still with me people?> Then Hiro puts the sword to Peter’s throat so that Peter can electrocute him. Time is back on and Adam sees Hiro lying on the ground. Peter tells him what Hiro said about not trusting Adam….and then they’re off to get the virus. Adam takes the sword. Nooooooooooooo!! Not the sword!! Hiro needs the sword!! He is our Samurai (which, interestingly enough means Servant of the Lord).
Now we’re with Claire and her ridiculous scheme to tell everyone what she can do…..oh wait……this may sound familiar to you too – a person who can heal, who no one will believe and some may persecute, a person who feels compelled to tell a story about what they believe. Are you with me? Claire finds all of Papa B’s documents from the Company. She’s trying to explain to mom why she’s doing this, she says they only target people with abilities, people like me. My People. Mom says, what if they do experiments on you? And Claire says, I can’t live in fear of ‘what if.’ Nice, but it’s still an awful idea. Now Bing is chastising Elle. He says, you really screwed up. You let me down. You’re not going out again. You know, nice supportive parental stuff. Bing lays on the fatherly guilt trip pretty well. Are we perhaps looking at a fallen angel? Now Elle wants answers from Papa B and he says, I’m totally not kidding, “I’m stuck in this hell hole, my family thinks I’m dead.” So why should I help you? And she threatens him and he doesn’t care and then she says the magic words. And so he says, Daddy pushed you farther than you should’ve been pushed. The hardest thing a parent ever does is having to see their child in pain (like a Son, you with me?) but not your parent. And then Bing barges in, Elle barges out. Bing tells Papa B that Claire is causing problems, and when Papa refuses to help, he says we’ll have to deal with her. What does that mean?
Micah runs home and Niki is yelling at him. I told you to let the police handle it. And he says, yeah but now Monica (St. Joan) is caught and we have to rescue her. And then Niki says, I have no super-strength, but don’t worry Mohinder is going to cure me (no he’s not!). And Micah says, fine, you just need to drive. [I will bring a conqueror against you. Micah 1:15]
Back to the Company and Adam and Peter are fighting off the guards to get to the virus. Very bad ass. So they get to the vault, and Adam tells Peter to pry it open with his brain. Not much at stake, just the fate of the entire human race. Adam admits to killing Sulu, and Peter is like, why should I believe you? And Adam reminds him about Caitlin. We all need you to open that door. And so he starts to bend the door…..um…..why not walk through the wall?
Mohinder, Maya, Gabriel and Molly are at Isaac’s loft (Isaac was the Sacrifice, remember?) which is now his lab. Mohinder explains that he needs to test Gabriel’s blood to diagnose him correctly….but I think he’s stalling. Sylar says, your father found my gift and now you’re restoring it. Life is beautiful or something like that. And then we’re talking about betrayal again. Ahhh, he is stalling. Video surveillance in the loft is on. The Company should be seeing this. So Elle is trying to look at her files back at headquarters, but there are none. And then she sees the loft on the computer screen, and sees Sylar and then she realizes that she has the chance to make Daddy proud again. A chance for redemption. Oh boy.
Monica is tied up in some building, where the thugs are going to set the place on fire. This doesn’t make a whole lot of sense story-wise, except that Saint Joan of Arc was burned at the stake also. There’s that irony again. Micah is tracking Monica using her cell phone. And then he makes all the traffic lights change to green….that’s awesome!! I need that kid in my car during rush hour!!
Nathan and Parkman fly in to Odessa. Oh, that I had wings like a dove! (Psalm lv.6) They run in to Hiro. Back at Claire’s and she is packing up the stuff to take to the press, and Mr. Annoying (aka West) shows up. She says get to work, buddy boy. And he says, I’m not here to help. I’m here to stop you. West, the direction of the sunset, the mythic direction of the underworld. I don’t trust this kid. Besides being annoying….I just don’t trust him. He likes his secrets. I think maybe someone told him to be “watching” her too. How come we’ve never met his parents? Claire gives him his file, so he knows she won’t be able to tell anyone about him. He leaves her, flies away…..like an angel. Then Mr. Muggles runs up to the door to welcome home…………wait for it……………Papa B. He has arisen.
Maya and Molly are waiting in the loft, and Maya talks about Alejandro. Molly says I can find him for you so you know he’s safe. And of course, she can’t because he’s dead. Because I know you’re wondering, Alejandro is Spanish for Alexander, which means “Protector of Man”. You still with me? Mohinder realizes Gabriel has the same strain of the virus Niki has, so that means the Company infected him….so it was the Company who had stranded him out in the middle of nowhere. Maya is screaming at Gabriel and so to shut her up, he shoots her. And I’m thinking to myself, what the hell was the point of the Super Twins?!?! What a waste of air time. I mean, don’t get me wrong. I’m glad they’re dead….but seriously. Gabriel says, give me the “Heal Anything” blood and Mohinder pulls it out of his bag. He says, try it on her first and if it works, you can “save” me. That’s what he said – save me. But what if he was already saved? The Shanti virus was supposed to be his inner peace. Some people just don't want to be saved....oh, how far you have fallen....
Back at the Bennets and Oblivious Mom is trying to wrap her teeny tiny brain around what is going on. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God. (Genesis 6:9) Papa explains that Claire cured him, it was her blood that brought her back. He tells Claire she needs to stop her plans to expose the Company. He says he made a deal, you stop what you’re doing and I have to go back with them and you get to have a normal life. Set thine house in order. (Isaiah 38:1). He says, you were right, it’s all my fault, I never meant to hurt you and then he leaves before anyone has a chance to say anything. And poor Claire is crying again. And Bing is waiting outside to take Papa back to the Company. Noah did everything just as God commanded him. (Genesis 6:22).
Peter is still trying to pry open the vault, and then he finally does it. And right before Adam can walk into the vault, Hiro blips himself in the way and tries to stop him. Adam is about to filet him with the Kensai sword, when Peter just tosses Hiro to the side. Adam says, he’ll just keep at it unless you do something about it. So Peter starts strangling Hiro, like he did to that guy back in the bar in Ireland. What the hell? Parkman shows up and is mind-yelling at Peter to let Hiro go, go after Adam. Parkman is trying to make him do it. And Peter is just as strong. Or stronger, he pushes Parkman down the hall with his mind and he’s yelling, You don’t understand!! You’re on the wrong side!!! Tell me………..how many people throughout time have claimed that when justifying their religion? How do you know you're on the right side? How do you know you're worshipping the right God? So Nathan steps into the hall, and says how about me? Am I on the wrong side too? And I got chills...
But no one is paying attention to Adam, who is now in the vault. Hiro blips himself in to stop Adam. He says, you were my friend and Adam says, you were my inspiration. Oh my. <are you still with me, people?> He’s holding the virus vial in his hand behind his back, and he pulls out the sword to end Hiro. Get thee behind me, Satan. (Matthew 16:23)
Cut back to the hallway, and Nathan is trying to convince Peter that Adam is evil. Peter says, but he saved you with his blood. Does that mean Nathan is invincible now? Back in the vault and Adam is trying to justify the virus, time changes nothing. And then out comes the flood story, straight out of the Bible. We’re not even pretending anymore. God just washed it all away when he was no longer happy with it. And Hiro says, you are not God. And Adam says, are you sure? I’ve lived for 400 years, who’s to say I won’t live for 400 more. Nathan says, he used me to get to you Peter, to manipulate you. Come ON Peter, wake UP!!! Nathan loves you, he wouldn’t lie.
And then things start to happen very fast. Can you really trust Adam? And you see it, quite clearly. No….no, he can’t. Hiro blips Adam away, but the vial gets dropped in the process. Peter rushes in to the vault and grabs the vial with his mind before it breaks. Peter is starting to regret his decisions to follow Adam, and Nathan reminds him, you’re not responsible for something that might have happened. So Peter burns up the virus, except there is ash left on his hand…..is that bad? And before it blows away, we see the helix symbol on his hand. Parkman is complaining about all this nonsense, Nathan says we need to stop this, no more secrets. Peter asks what do you want to do, and now Nathan is talking about telling the world. Man, this is a bad idea. And oh look, there’s video surveillance in the vault as well. Somebody is always watching.
Back at the loft and we’re waiting to see if Maya lives. Physician, heal thyself. (Luke 4:23) And of course she does. But I think that is more appropriate for our man, Mohinder. Heal yourself, Mohinder. Find your righteous path again. Find your faith. [But I will show you whom you should fear: fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. (Luke 12:5)] I hope for this show's sake that Maya starts getting much more interesting....Gabriel goes to leave with the blood, and Elle tries to stop him….which of course she fails at miserably…..because she can’t do anything right.
Micah tells Niki they’re almost to the house where Monica must be….and the anonymous thug sets the fire. Micah sees the van, and Niki runs in to it. Niki still kicks his ass, even without her strength. And then they see the smoke pouring out of the building. Niki goes to save her, and Monica gets out but Niki doesn’t. At least, we don’t see her come out before the building explodes. What misery is mine. (Micah 7:1) This poor kid has lost both his father and his mother….it doesn’t really seem fair. The Hubby is despondent. His favorite character could be dead….but I am unsure. Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light. (Micah 7:8).
Hiro has blipped himself back to Ando. But where is Adam? Hiro says, he can never hurt anyone again. And we cut to Adam who is locked in what immediately looks like a coffin. Buried alive. In the family crypt. There’s that irony again. So tell me…..what’s the one thing that would suck worse than anything else if you were immortal? Adam lived 930 years, and then he died. (Genesis 5:5) That would really suck. Entombed in immortality...kind of like being banished to hell....
Elle says, my dad is gonna kill me and Mohinder reminds her that she just saved everyone. You’re a hero. How about that....picking the right side? Now, we’re getting ready for the press conference. Peter is still feeling badly about choosing the wrong side, and Nathan says, don’t worry. You tried to do the right thing. You always do. If you see yourself as a monster, the guilt will eat you up inside. [Nathan replied, the Lord has taken away your sin. You are not going to die. (2Samuel 12:13)]
Nathan is giving his speech, and we’re getting a flashback of Volume 2. I lost my brother, I lost my family, I lost my way. But while I was away I had the chance to see ordinary people among us trying their best everyday to be heroes. These ordinary people are capable of extraordinary things. You have no idea how extraordinary. But there are other people who don’t want you to know the truth. I’m not afraid anymore, I’m here to tell you the truth….I have the ability – and then he gets shot! Assassinated. Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later. (John 13:36) Someone walks away from the crowd, and it looks disturbingly like Adam...but you couldn't really tell who it was, I made the Hubby rewind the DVR. Cut to Evil Mom on the phone, who apparently orchestrated the whole thing. So she must still be involved in the Company. She says to whoever is on the other end of the line, you do know that you’ve now opened Pandora’s Box. And that, my dear friends is the end of Volume Two. By the way, Pandora was created from all of the “gifts” she got from all of the gods. Zeus ordered her creation as a punishment to mankind. The box she carries contains all of the world’s evils. She tries to close the lid, but not in time and the Evils escape. Along with the evils though, came Hope – humanity’s only salvation.
But that’s not the end of last night’s episode, no….now we need a teaser for next season. Volume Three is called Villains. Sylar is in some back alley, injecting himself with the resurrection blood. And he heals. And he has his Great Ability back. He’s back. My name is Legion, for we are many. (Mark 5:9) I think our clues were in the vault – the deck of cards, the dagger, the brain. I think these probably belong to the Villains.
Just in case you forgot – Volume One was called Genesis. <oh really?> Volume Two was called Generations.
I love this show. Loyalty, Family, Sacrifice, Betrayal, Resurrection……Faith. I’m not a religious person, but the coincidences are pretty uncanny.
Peter replied, “Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will.” (Matthew 26:33)
Later gators, Heather 27 novembre Hell Is Empty and All the Devils Are HereSo Peter is in future NY and he’s seeing himself getting nabbed by the biohazard guys. And he’s having a flashback…but he’s really still in the warehouse with Adam. The virus, called the Shanti virus. Victoria Pratt, the mystery woman (keep up everyone) apparently discovered the virus in Mohinder’s sister three decades ago. She had apparently been the first to try to make the virus a weapon. The virus is their crime, according to Adam. Parents sin, children suffer. Hmmmm….so Peter and Adam are off to find the mystery woman.
Bing is back at the Bennetts with Papa in a jar. He says he is sorry. But we all know that Papa is not dead. Bing is trying to explain that they were only trying to help people with Claire’s blood. He says they are going to abide by Papa’s wishes and leave the family alone to live a normal life. And the cheerleader who is just a cheerleader says, my father is dead. There is no normal. I can’t believe it took her this long to figure that out. Oblivious Mom says, pack your bags. We’re leaving tonight.
Back in Bing’s car, he tells Elle to watch them. So Bing is blaming Elle for failing at the stand-off…..oooOOOOooooo….daddy’s little girl is looking a little defiant.. Mohinder is with Papa. He says, didn’t you shoot me? But Mohinder gave him Claire’s blood and apparently, this was not part of the plan. Papa finds out that Claire is safe. Not only does the family think he’s dead….but I think other people think he is dead. Mohinder says, this blood can save a lot of lives and he thinks the Company is in the life-saving business. Papa B says, oh no. You’re all wrong. Come on Mohinder, get it together.
Finally back to Micah and Monica. And Micah is explaining to Monica how to be a super hero. Say hello to mom, Niki is here. And now she has to tell her son that she is dying. Niki says she was trying to get help, but things went terribly terribly wrong. Micah is too smart to think that everything will just get better. So he goes to get his dad’s medal out of his room, but it’s gone. I don’t get it.
Maya is whooping it up with Sylar. And he’s trying to convince her to get rid of that nagging brother of hers. Now he’s trying to make her feel guilty about it. And finally, Sylar starts to reveal some of his true colors. He gets her all riled up to make her try to control the death stare. No, no Mya, just kill him. But of course she doesn’t…..she reverses it. Oh boy. She’s getting strong too.
Hiro is explaining to Ando about the immortal Kensai. So, Peter and Adam find the mystery woman amazingly easily….considering Parkman has been looking for her. They’re off in the woods somewhere. Peter tells her that her virus is about to released and kill the whole world. He needs her help…I’m not totally sure she’s buying this story. I’m mean, you’re from the future. Come on. I’ve seen that movie already.
Hiro says that Ando is like a hamster making a nest….meaning…..for those of you who don’t know….he’s clumsy. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, they have the So they find pictures of Kensai and find out he’s calling himself Adam Monroe. So Hiro thinks he needs to go back in time to the day Adam was locked up by the Company, in 1977. Adam thinks releasing the virus is for the greater good, I don’t get it. So Hiro finds out where the virus is being hidden. He also finds out that Mystery Woman warned everyone and then left. So back with Peter, and he’s trying to convince Mystery Woman to help him. He says, tell me where the virus is…..oh boy…..he and Hiro and going to cross paths. She tells him what to look for. And now Adam knows. But Mystery Woman recognizes Adam and is about to take him out, when Peter steps in…..oh for crying out loud. PETER!!! Helloooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
Maya tries to tell Alejandro about her new powers. Alejandro googles Sylar and finds out that he’s a killer….hmm…..just like you and your sister? He says we need to go now. Sylar is now trying to explain why he killed mommy dearest. Try to be empathetic, Maya….you sap. Ahhhh, there’s the manipulative devil we know and love. So Alejandro is leaving….I hope.
The Pumpkin is currently doing her “nesting hamster” impersonation.
So Mystery Woman is being tied up by Adam and Peter, and she tries to explain to Peter what is going on….come ON Peter. So Peter can read minds too…..nice. He finds out the virus is in Texas. Then Adam loosens Mystery Woman’s ropes and we all saw this one from a mile away….she grabs the shotgun and goes to shoot Peter and of course Adam shoots her first. Peter is like, why’d you do that? BECAUSE HE’S A KILLER YOU MORON. Cute sexy moron. And Adam says, she was about to take your head off. There’s no coming back from that. Huh. Really? That’s good information to have….if it’s true. But I think it is, because remember when Claire had that piece of shrapnel stuck in her head, she stayed dead….do you remember that? That was a while ago….but it still makes me think he’s telling the truth. He’s like a zombie. Shoot him in the brain….and you can kill him. But zombies only want to eat your brains….not destroy the world. Be a good minion and go get the car.
So Micah’s little thieving cousin lost the backpack. He lost the medal. Micah is inconsolable. He wants to “be a hero” and Niki says no, being a hero got your father killed. You’re up St. Joan.
So Sylar and Maya and trying to leave, but Alejandro shows up and tries to stop Sylar, so Sylar kills him. So Maya is at the door, and she’s thanking him. Oh dear Jesus. HE KILLED YOUR BROTHER!!! Now she’s kissing him. AAAAAAAAiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! But I am secretly glad that stupid character is gone. Now if we can just make Maya more interesting, we’ll be on to something.
We’re back with the Cheerleader and Annoying. Time to say goodbye. She’s trying to explain that loses her dad hurts more than anything else she’s been through, and that’s a lot. She’s says, I’m not getting better….I usually get better. And so now she wants to signal the Haitian to forget her dad. She wants to tell him how sorry she is…..oh Claire Bear….you can!!! St. Joan gets dressed up in her superhero outfit and tells Micah she’s going after the medal.
Back at the Company, Mohinder finds out that Claire’s blood can cure the mutated virus. Now Mohinder knows how long the viral research has been going on….and now he knows about Strain 138. Mohinder wants to destroy it all…..but who knows if Bing is going to go along with the plan. Mohinder calls Niki and says, we found a cure. But Niki sees that Micah is out of his bed. St. Joan and Micah are in the street robbing the robbers who robbed them. So, I have a question. Can she mimic heroes too? Or would that just make her Peter? She finds that backpack, but nothing is in it. And then the robbers show up. They grab Monica and throw her in their van and off runs Micah to get his mommy.
Claire is at the ocean, dumping Papa and saying she’s sorry. Oh, this is so sad. And now it’s really time to say goodbye. Something tells me we’re gonna see Annoying again. And then Claire sees Elle watching her. And Elle can’t get the car started because her arm is broken. Come on Claire, kick her ass!!! No….now she wants to tell the world what she can do. This is ridiculous. What a stupid plan, cheerleader. Kicking her ass was a much better idea…..
Mohinder is in the back of cab….just like the beginning of the show. The phone rings….and it’s Sylar. He says he’s with Molly, and he’s brought Maya. Clueless Maya. Now he has to go save Molly…where the hell is Parkman!!! Hiro is back and tells Ando about the virus and then blips himself away to Texas. So everyone is converging in Odessa at Primatech Paper. Time freezes and we all know what that means. Hiro is here. Hiro wants to kill Adam and it’s a standoff. Hiro charges Peter with the Kensai sword raised and Peter is ready with the blue gob of light in hand and then – to be continued.
Next week, the season finale. Ay yay yay....I can't believe the season is almost over. No questions this week from me, just a few thoughts. There are good guys and bad guys in this show. Plenty of both. But which is which. Sometimes we know for sure.....right? Like....Parkman. Wait, he might be getting power hungry. Like Mohinder. Wait, he shot Papa Bennett in the eye. Like Peter. Wait, he's Adam's minion. Like Hiro. Wait, he's out for vengeance. Niki isn't the only one on this show with split personalities. Each of our characters is teetering in the balance.....
<smile> Later gators, Heather 20 novembre What a father would do...I hope you had a chance to watch this last night kids, because this episode was absolutely fantastic. I do realize I say the same thing every week....but every week it's great. One of my favorite shows, by far and away. So back in the world of superheroes, the Bennett family is preparing to flee when Claire announces that she is not going anywhere. What are you going to do, dad? Abduct me? Now her annoying brother and Oblivious Mom want to know what this is all about and Claire tells her annoying brother that dad is one of the bad guys, don't trust a word he says. After he threatens to tie her up in duct tape <chuckle>, Oblivious Mom finally steps in and says, enough. Claire go to school. Mr. Bennet put down the tape. We're leaving tonight. Way to go, mom. Way to take control of the situation. Then Claire blurts out those words that every parent has heard at least 2 million times during their child's adolescence - "I hate you." Ouch....I think that one may have hurt a little bit though...
Hiro is in Japan for his dad's funeral. And he is supposed to say the eulogy, but he won't do it. He says to eulogize him is to admit he's gone and then he decides to go back in time to fix everything. Finally!! I've been wondering why he didn't do this from the beginning...the Hubby has been muttering about space/time contiuums for the last 12 minutes....Back to the Future....and that wouldn't work.....stuff that only true sci-fi geeks would understand. I think I'll just ignore him...
So Parkman is back to being a normal parent. Molly didn't have any nightmares, and now she wants to help Parkman find more people....oh boy....he says no, I can't do that to you again. And then he puts a thought into her brain. Makes her eat her cereal. Makes her be normal. Parkman is getting stronger, just like his dad. Bing is explaining to Mohinder that they need Claire whatever the consequences and yes, they may have to kill Papa Bennett to get her...and then Bing introduces Mohinder to his new partner...the lovely and insane Elle, 'whose moral compass points north northwest'. I like that line. <evil grin> My moral compass has gone off-kilter from time to time too....I can empathize. Not with the whole blue gobs of light and creepy stroking....but the moral compass part....
Claire tries to apologize to Annoying West, who doesn't want to believe that she wasn't in on some sort of scam to nab him again. She tells him, I'm not a spy, I'm just a cheerleader. Awwwwwwwww....we know that's not really the case.....but awwwwwwwwww....she just wants to be a cheerleader. Annoying West says he needs to think about her words of devotion before he decides what to do. Go ahead, lover boy. We've got all the time in the world...back at police headquarters, Parkman is working on the Elder Hero Murders when the chief says, leave it alone. But then Parkman mind warps him into thinking Parkman should get some more time to work on the case....hmmm....it seems awfully easy for him to influence people without any qualms....that's probably not a good thing.
So Papa Bennet is trying to explain to Oblivious Mom why he needs to stop Annoying West. He shows her a picture of West when he was a kid and he abducted him. Oh yeah, and he can fly. Oblivious Mom sees the paintings and now knows why Papa thinks he needs to stop West. But she's having none of it...she says, gotta take your son to school, in that cold "you're in the doghouse" tone. Papa, undeterred, calls Mohinder and says let's use Molly to find this Annoying West. Mohinder says, yeah ok. And then after he hangs up, he tries to convince Bing and Elle that he may not need to kill Papa Bennett. Bing and Elle are very skeptical. But Bing finally agrees.
Hiro has teleported back to his Papa on the day he dies, and he tries to convince Sulu to run away with him to Japan. But Sulu says, his fate is set. They are not gods...they cannot change what is supposed to be. But poor Hiro, our tragic hero, will not accept this. So he teleports Papa and himself back to some other time. Meanwhile, Papa Bennett says he can't wait around and heads off to Claire's school, except when he walks out the door someone pops him right in the face....it's Annoying West!! And he's flying Papa B into the sky and asking him if Claire really ever cared about him...blah blah blah....oh whatever. So Papa says, yeah of course. And then they crash land and Papa B grabs the little punk and says look, Claire's in danger, so pay attention. Mohinder calls and says Molly found West at some other place, so Papa B knows its a trap. But he needs Annoying's help.
Over at school and the cheerleader who is just a cheerleader gets questioned by Bing...who mistakenly or not calls her Miss Bennett....which is not her fake name that everybody else knows....and so she runs off. She's in trouble!!! I guess daddy was right, huh Claire. Mohinder and Elle are on their stakeout for Papa B. And Mohinder asks her if he can talk to Papa alone...so when Papa pulls up, Mohinder jumps into the car. He tells Papa B they need Claire and Papa goes, have you gone native? Heehee....now they argue about the Company and Papa B is like, you're totally crazy, you're never getting Claire. So Suresh has no choice, he pulls a gun on Papa B (just like the painting) and tells him to drive.
Back at home and Claire is panicking...telling Oblivious Mom that they need to go, some creepy guy showed up at school and then the creepy guy shows up in the house. Ahhh, Bing. Suresh brings Papa B to some back alley and then he sees Mohinder's new partner. They apparently know each other. But before she can fry him with her blue gobs of electricity, West clobbers her out of thin air. Papa B blindsides Mohinder and then puts the gun in his face...it looks like the end of Mohinder!!! But Annoying stops him, so Papa B just knocks Mohinder over and off they go. Papa B is back at home, unties Oblivious Mom who tells him that Bing took off with their daughter. And Papa says, don't worry, we'll get her back, we have collateral. Which would be Elle. They tie her up with her feet in a bucket of water....so when she tries to fry him, she ends up frying herself. Oh my.
So Papa B is trying to get Elle to contact her father and then we find out that she used to be normal, until Bing started electrocuting her as a young girl. She says, you're crazy, I don't remember any of that. And Papa is like, you mean it feels like your memories have been erased. So they ring up Bing and Papa B says meet us in this place or else I'll kill your daughter. Oh boy....Claire says, I'll do whatever you want, just don't hurt my dad. Bing says, it's too bad Papa turned out wrong...you could have been a great addition to the Team. Your blood could have cured a lot of people. But he's taking her blood anyway....so I'm not sure what he's talking about....
back in Japan and Hiro has brought Sulu to his wife's funeral. Hiro was just a boy but he remembers Sulu being heartbroken. Sulu says, yes I was heartbroken, but this doesn't change anything. Then Hiro gets annoyed and storms off and ends up running right into himself, as a boy. This was really cool. They moved the same way, almost a mirror image. And the boy is pretending to be Kensai, he goes "I am Takezo Kensai." Hmmmm....yes, yes you are. And then the boy says, my father will never die. I'll stop it. And Hiro realizes, his idea of protecting his father from Fate is very childish. So bringing his father to the past has not taught his father anything, it has only taught him that he needs to let go. So sad.
Annoying insists on helping Papa B rescue Claire, saying he can fly her out of danger in a second. Oblivious Mom says, they say girls are attracted to boys who are like their fathers...and Papa B goes, why because he can fly (remember Nathan is her real papa) and Mom goes, nooooooooooo. Her "real" dad, meaning not her real dad, all he cares about is protecting her. Nice. That's really sweet, in an ironic kind of way. Now Mom is being nice and supportive, go get our daughter.
Hiro transports Sulu back to the present, and Sulu says he is so proud of his son. Oh my. This is really sad. Hiro crunches up his face in such a sweet and pathetic way when he cries. So he teleports away and here is the bad guy, which I kind of already know is Adam, but Hiro doesn't know that. "Of all of them, I never expected it would be you." Ando shows up and the bad guy pushes Sulu over the edge of the building. And everything freezes. Hiro is there...not to stop it....just to see who it is. And then, to see Adam's face....
We're back with Parkman and he's interviewing Evil Mom. She says don't even try to read my mind, silly boy. Then Parkman says, oh you have no idea what I can do....and she is suddenly nervous. Don't do this....he mind melds her into speaking the truth and you can see her trying not speak. She says, it was Adam. If your cells continually regenerate, you stop growing old. He's 400 years old. And he won't stop until he's taken revenge on us for locking him up, until we're all dead. Parkman says, you all are dead, except for you and this woman in the group photo. Hmmmm...a mystery woman. Evil Mom becomes quite evil and says, our generation mortgaged our souls for your generation, so show a little respect. Oh my. Evil Mom won't tell him who the mystery woman is, she just wants to be left alone. Evil Mom made her a promise. And she says, if you take this secret from me, you're not just like your father, you are him....come on Parkman!! You're a good guy!!!
We're at the beach, ready to make the trade between Claire and Elle. Bing says, it doesn't have to be this way. Oh yes it does. This is good TV right here....so the two blondes walk across each other's paths. Claire hugs Papa B and then West swoops her up into the sky and then Elle zaps them out of the air and Papa B shoots her right in the shoulder and then Bing runs over to her and then Papa B points his gun at Bing and says, if you die, the Company dies with you and Mohinder says, please don't do this. But Papa keeps pointing the gun at Bing, Claire yells Dad! and then Mohinder shoots Papa right in the eye. And that was totally unexpected....well....I mean, not totally unexpected...because you know, we saw the paintings, but you know what I mean. I hardly breathed at all during that scene...holy cow. Save the cheerleader, save the world. Save the cheerleader...who isn't just a cheerleader....she's the only one of you who is hardwired to save herself...
West brings Claire home, and she realizes the last thing she said to Papa B was, I hate you. Oh dear. The guilt. She'll never get a chance to take it back. And now she has to tell Oblivious Mom what happened. We're with West, watching from outside of the house...and it's heartbreaking. Hiro is back at Sulu's funeral and he says, he refuses to admit his father is dead. Because everything he does is because of his father, and so his father lives on through him. That's very cool. A nice speech. He taught me right from wrong, what it means to be a hero. He taught me to understand certain things are in God's hands but for everything else, God has given us the gift of choice. I like that. The "gift of choice". That's a very cool idea. He says, as long as I continue to act as my father taught me, he will never truly die....and as he's saying this, we're seeing the IV dripping blood...which I assume is Claire's blood and I assume it's dripping into Niki except the camera pans down to the patient's arm, and it is most definitely not Niki's arm....pan up.....and it's Papa B. And his eye that was shot out, comes back to life and then he does....he gasps, sits up straight in bed, in an empty hospital room, looks at the camera, and then "Ohhhh..." Oh my. That was really really unexpected.
So, as usual, I have a million questions after last night's episode. Who is this mystery woman that Evil Mom refuses to talk about? Will Elle still be evil after learning what Bing did to her? Will Parkman still be good after discovering his mind melding ability? Will Niki be cured with Claire's blood? What are Peter and Adam up to? What about Sylar and the Dynamic Duo? Does Evil Mom really have any ability and what is she going to think of Peter working with the guy who tried to kill her? Did Papa Bennett know that Claire's blood could save him....was this part of the original plan to take down the company? What's Hiro going to do, especially when he finds out Claire's blood could have brought back Sulu too? What about Micah and Monica (was that his cousin's name?)?
Oh, what a father would do.......he would kill without remorse. He would die without regret. And he would come back to life......without.........remembrance?
<smile>

13 novembre AnswersSo it’s the flashback episode. Very exciting. Finally we’re going to get some answers….finally finally finally. So we start off with Peter facing off with Adam and Adam is trying to explain that Peter has forgotten everything, but he can remember if he focuses on whatever he cares about the most….which is apparently this picture of a brother he doesn’t even know exists…..because now we jump back to the day four months ago when Peter exploded. So Nathan is flying Peter into the sky, remember...to keep him from exploding on the ground….and Peter says let me go. Peter explodes, Nathan is apparently falling to his death….when Peter (without a scratch on him) swoops in and saves him. Now this, of course, makes total sense. I mean, Peter can heal because of Claire. He can fly because of Nathan…so he probably could have done it by himself. But now Nathan is burnt up…charred into a little crispy thanks to the nuclear reacting Peter. So, Peter takes him to a hospital and then disappears before a suspicious cop can stop him.
Niki and Micah are in the hospital, waiting to hear about DL who was shot in the chest. The bullet just missed his aorta. The surgery was a success. And everyone lives happily ever after. Clearly not, since he is now dead. Bing stops in and tells Niki that he paid for everything and she’s only going to end up hurting her family again unless she gets help. Help that only the Company can provide. Apparently, when some people get their Great Ability, the mind can’t handle it and so they develop split personalities….hence Jessica. Niki, says no I’m not leaving them and Bing says, well then take these pills to keep yourself from becoming a sociopathic killer.
And now we have to hear about the SuperTwins….even though I could care less about these two. So, we’re at Alejandro’s wedding back in Venezuela. And Maya says, don’t trust these people. Alejandro is totally oblivious. <shaking my head> I so don’t care….Maya catches Alejandro’s new wife fooling around with her ex-boyfriend in this little telenovela. And so Maya kills them with her death tears. This is apparently the first time she commits mass murder. It shakes her up just a bit.
So Peter is leaving the hospital invisible when he gets zapped by Elle and her blue gobs of light. And we get confirmation that Elle is Bing’s daughter….already knew that. She is acting all flirty and gross with Peter while Bing tries to con him into believing that the Company can help him. She is all handsy with him….that’s kind of weird. Bing and daughter dearest tell Peter that they turned off his abilities thanks to the Voodoo Haitian. Hmmm…I didn’t know he could suppress abilities…..did you? Bing says they’re close to finding a cure for the Super Freaks and Peter believes him…..Sucker!!! Evil Mom is back at the hospital with Kentucky Fried Nathan and we hear that they think Peter is “missing”….so Evil Mom has nothing to do with Bing apparently….
Elle is feeding Peter his pills, telling him they take away his abilities and keep him safe. Then she zaps him, in a really creepy way. Then we find out that Adam is in the cell next door. Back to Niki and DL and Micah, it’s Micah birthday and Niki is zoned out on her pills. Micah wants to be the Fantastic Four minus one (that was cute) and DL puts the ixne on that. He got a job that will make everyone proud. Niki tells DL that the pills are too tough to take, and DL says hang in there. You’re my favorite sociopath! And with that great pep talk, Niki flushes those pills right down the drain.
Adam is trying to get Peter to talk. He tells Peter that he can sense he’s been through something awful….but here at the Company they will just leave him there to rot. Nice bonding moment. Peter tells him his name and Adam introduces himself. Elle is back and she's got this weird S&M thing with the zapping….bizarre. Peter asks her what her story is…and Elle says she likes him better when he’s quiet. So Peter guilts her into talking and she tells him, she set her grandmother on fire when she was six, caused a four-county blackout when she was eight and spent the next birthday pumped full of lithium. People call her crazy, only because she threatened to kill them. She’s been in the building for a very very long time. Oh my.
Adam says, beware of the she-devil. Apparently, he caved in to her wily ways once and he’s still paying for it (whatever that means)…..and then he tells Peter that he’s in a prison. Go ahead, try to leave. We’re back with Nathan….and holy cow look who it is – his wife!!! Remember she was in a wheelchair in the beginning? We haven’t seen her in forever. Evil Mom tells her not to believe any of Nathan’s ramblings (about the truth to save the world), she tells Wifey that Nathan is insane. So keep it in the family, chica. Oh boy.
Niki is starting her job as a car salesperson. Except, look who it is…..Jessica? No, not Jessica…..it’s Gina!! Oh my. She’s the playful one. And she traps Niki in the mirror and she’s off to LA. Peter tries to get out of the Company for a family visit and Bing says…oh….oh nothing doing. Sorry. Adam says, I told you so!! Peter says why are they keeping us prisoner…and Adam says, because we’re trying to save the world. (Obviously a lie). He tells Peter he could be saving lots of people, including his brother, with his magic healing blood. So, Peter says, tell me what to do. Man, you are gullible Peter!!
So DL is a firefighter….huh…..good job for him. And he saves some kid from a burning building and now he’s a real hero. He goes home to find out that his sociopathic wife is no where to be found. There's a note on the mirror that she’s off to LA. Peter is faking taking his pills from Elle through his little seduction techniques….hmmm…oh.....oh my...........hmmmmmm.............. sorry. Back to the show. Peter is trying to melt his way through the wall………um………did he meet DL? I can’t remember this stuff. Anyway, so he melts himself into Adam’s room. And then they both escape to save Nathan.
Maya is a nun now….Alejandro shows up with the police and tries to arrest her, but she kills the cop and now Alejandro believes her. Have I mentioned I can’t stand them? Cause I can’t stand them…..tweedledum and tweedledummer. So Niki is in LA snorting big piles of coke and DL finds her in some random bar. She snaps out of Gina mode and DL is taking her home….when some thug she was dancing with shoots him in the chest…..apparently killing him. How many times does the poor guy have to get shot? Sheesh!!
So we’re at DL’s funeral. Bing shows up and we see that Niki is resigned to getting help from the Company. Peter and Adam show up at the hospital and pump Nathan full of the magic healing blood and he instantly starts getting better. Adam says we’ve got to go. Elle shows up with the Haitian and they split up to run. The Haitian goes after Peter, after Elle almost sets him on fire with the blue gobs. Why doesn’t he just go invisible?!?!? Hmmm….but he did end up shirtless. The Haitian…instead of taking him back in to the Company, wipes his memory clean and locks him up in the container. Because Evil Mom did something for him once, so he’s returning the favor…..hmmmmm…..
Now it’s the end and we’ve got Mohinder narrating us out. Nathan is looking at Evil Mom in that ‘I blame you for everything’ way that he has about him, Niki is checking herself into (or out of) the Company, Maya is making goo goo eyes at Sylar, Nathan shows up at Wandering Rocks…..and flash forward again to Peter in the warehouse in Montreal and he remembers. He remembers everything!!!
Adam says, finally. Shall we save the world?
Ok, so lots of questions answered…..but….not really. What is Adam’s endgame, save the world, from the virus? Is the Company evil or not? If Adam is evil, then the Company might not be…..or is the Company evil and just lying about Adam? Everybody else got a flashback, except for Sylar….why in the world did they keep him? No Hiro, no Ando, no Claire or Papa Bennet, and no Parkman, Mohinder or Molly…..Peter is definitely the centerpiece of this season. The Petrelli’s all had the Great Ability, what about Papa Petrelli? When will Nathan catch up to Peter? The first episode this season was “Four Months Later” This one was “Four Months Ago”. This show has the potential to be completely brilliant. I truly hope they don’t let me down on this one…..
Later gators, Heather 6 novembre Time Is Relative, Adam WestOh hell yeah! I hope you all saw last night’s episode!! It was the best. EVER!! I love this show….I really do…..holy cow. Now, how I managed to tear myself away from Monday Night Football for an hour is a whole different blog topic <smile> so we won’t even go there….Sorry Baltimore. So anyway, let’s get right down to it. <evil wringing of my hands> heehee….. We start off with Hiro being tortured by the fake Kensai. I am more convinced than ever that Hiro is really his own Hero and that he will end up being the real Kensai. So the fake Kensai is saying that he will get half of Japan and the swordmaker’s daughter out of his treacherous betrayal….oh my. And Hiro is seeing pink elephants through all the opium haze. So, Mr. Bennett takes pictures of all the pictures that we finally get to see, and then he calls Suresh. Apparently, the picture of the guy holding the gun is actually Suresh (not Peter, yeah I kind of assume they’re all of Peter, don’t I) and he asks Suresh if the Company has given him a gun. And Suresh is like, what are you talking about you crazy man? So, Papa is trying to explain that he found the paintings, blah blah blah and he wants to forward the images to Suresh and Suresh is like, no don’t. Jessica, I mean Niki, will see. And Papa is like, oh well dude. My family is priority number one. Papa burns the pictures. And then Niki walks in.
Parkman and Nathan have arrived to save Bing from Papa Parkman. Everyone is evacuating. Peter and the little Lassie are in Future NY. Lassie wants to know how he did it, and of course he doesn’t know and then the Hazmat team arrives and tackles them.
So Annoying West shows up at Claire’s house with breakfast and Forgetful Mom meets him. Man, is he annoying….she told you not to show up buddy!! And now they’re in the newspaper and now she’s in trouuuuuuuuuuUUUUUUUUUble!!!
Nathan wants to know why Papa Parkman is coming to kill Bing. Bing says, I’ll explain later….yeah right. He tells Niki and Mohinder to inject Papa Parkman with the virus…and Nathan is like, um…..what virus? Oh….the lethal one. But Bing is like, Mohinder can cure Papa with his blood after his abilities are taken away. Bing says, Parkman, you’re our man. You’re the only one who can stop your father….and Parkman is complaining that he doesn’t have any of his father’s abilities and Bing says, oh yes you do. Come on Parkman, get it together.
So back in Japan, the swordmaker’s daughter gets herself free and is trying to get Hiro out of his opium fog by slapping him silly. Come on Hiro, blink everyone away to safety!!! And now we’re in Future NY, and here is Peter (Lord have mercy) getting hosed down in decontamination. <long pause> Ok, moving on. So, some guy shows up and tells Peter that he’s supposed to be dead. He shows Peter his death certificate. And, oh by the way, why aren’t you infected? Peter is very confused. So, on March 20, 2007, the virus started to spread. 93% of the world’s population is dead. Everyone else lives in quarantine. Oh my. The virus. The lethal one. This can’t be good.
So Parkman is apologizing to Molly, who is apparently still in a coma. And as he’s talking to her…she starts responding. Oh boy, I feel a Hallmark moment coming on…..Mohinder is explaining to Niki that Bing is not really a good guy and the virus is going to kill people. And Niki says look, they could have given me the virus but they didn’t (yeah, because they want to use you…) and then looky here. It’s dead DL. How about that? She’s seeing things. Aha….because Parkman is in the building.
So Nathan is still interrogating Bing. Who is Adam Monroe? Yeah!!! Who is Adam? Bing explains that Adam convinced everyone that they could work together. But now he is trying to kill them. He thinks he’s a God. He was talking about punishing humanity to save the world. So the Company locked him up and threw away the key….but then he escaped. And then Bing tells Nathan he should care because Peter is still alive. Oh boy…..we’re starting to come full circle. This is very exciiiiiiiting!!! So, back in Future NY and Evil Mom comes to see Peter….but how is she still alive? I thought Adam was killing all of them in the Present NY? But anyone, Evil Mom is trying to make Peter remember who he is….she tells him he has a brother (but he died) and then she confirms that he can travel through time because he met Hiro…and he’s the strongest of all of them….and then she gets in his head, I think, and now he knows who she is….
Back in the Bennett household and Claire is smooching with Annoying. Yuck! Come on Claire, he’s soooooooooo annoying!!! She asks him if the marks on his neck hurt….and she starts to tell him who her daddy is….and then changes her mind. And then Papa shows up, Annoying freaks out, Claire tells him Papa is her papa….and Annoying flies away. Oh boy. This is getting gooooOOOOoooood!!!!
Hiro has escaped, but knows he still needs to destroy the guns to save Japan. And the daughter says, you cannot go back because Kensai (the fake one) will kill you. And Hiro (in true Star Wars fashion) says, there is good in him still, I know it. I can turn him away from the Dark Side of the force. And then he blinks himself back to White Beard’s camp. So Papa Parkman is playing with Niki’s head. Dead DL shows up again and now Niki is talking right to him, and DL says the Company is evil, they’re using you. I’m not dead, and then Dream Bing shows up and shoots Dead DL. And DL says you need to kill Bing, that’s the only way to save Micah. And Mohinder says, you’re losing it girl. And then she punches him in the face (breaking his nose, no doubt, just like the picture).
Hiro is back in camp, setting an explosion to destroy the guns. And Kensai shows up and says, oh no. Here’s the sword fight. The one in the picture? I thought Hiro was wearing his glasses in the picture, he’s not wearing them here….so maybe not. Kensai says he’s going to kill the daughter and Hiro says, oh no. The fire is set, the explosion is seconds away. Hiro says, take my hand, I can save you. And Kensai says, as long as I have breath in me I will destroy everything you love (or something like that) and then he says….you will suffer. Hiro blinks away just in time….but is the fake Kensai really dead? Or is he still alive in Present time? And does he go by Adam now? Hehehehehe…..I still think he’s the assassin.
So apparently Peter was in the Company medical facility. Bing is explaining that they lost track of him in Ireland. And then Niki starts breaking down the door. Parkman ends up in Molly’s nightmare room somehow….and then while he’s trying to escape the nightmare he actually ends up bringing Papa Parkman into the nightmare room too. Nathan and Bing are trying to stop Niki…..and for a second it looks like she stuck Nathan with the virus….but no, she stuck herself with the virus. Oh boy. Apparently, the nightmare room is Parkman’s old house on the night his father walked out on them. Parkman says I can trap you in here and Papa says oh no you can’t….and it’s a big showdown between Papa and son. And then he does it. He opens the door and leaves Papa in trapped in the nightmare. YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY Parkman!!! Molly wakes up out of her coma. And everyone lives happily ever after…oh wait….nevermind.
Back in Future NY, Peter is heading home with Evil Mom, and the little Lassie is being shipped back to Ireland and Peter is freaking out trying to get to her, when all of the sudden he blinks himself back to Present. Understand? Yeah, this one kind of jumped all over the place…Back in Japan and Hiro finds the fake Kensai’s helmet. But I don’t think he’s really dead. And then he meets the daughter under the cherry blossoms. And they live happily ever after….oh wait…..nevermind. The daughter says what I have been suspecting, she swears Hiro is the real Takezo Kensai. She wants to live happily ever after and Hiro says, that’s not how the story ends. Oh….I knew this was gonna be sad. He tells her about the final trial – Kensai and the Dragon. The Dragon teaches Kensai how to use a sword or something, but in return Kensai must give up his own love. And to save this woman, he cuts out his own heart. And then they say goodbye, kiss, so sad!!!
So Mohinder is fixing Niki with his blood….and she apologizes for breaking his nose….but wait, the antibodies aren’t working. It’s another strain of the virus, immune to his blood….and now Niki is going to die! Oh my. And here is Ando, and here is the helmet and here is Hiro back in the Present. And the two buddies are reunited!! Awesome. Ando says, we saved the world!! Which, if you remember, Hiro didn’t know about. And then Hiro asks about his father….and Ando has to tell him that Sulu is dead.
Mohinder is explaining that this strain has no cure. Bing “promises” to Mohinder that they will destroy all the vials of the virus. And then he says, we can still cure Niki with the unbreakable Cheerleader. And then Bing gives Mohinder a gun. Mohinder says, you want to kill him? Bing says he’s dangerous…and then Mohinder…..for apparently no reason at all tells Bing he was working with Papa Bennett to take down the Company….oh boy. Bing says, there is a storm coming. The Cheerleader is the key to stopping the virus. The key to saving Niki. The key to saving everyone. Save the cheerleader. Save the world.
Papa Bennett is back home and forgetful Mom asks if he met the Boyfriend….surprise surprise Papa…..Claire’s got a boyfriend. So he goes to confront her with the newspaper article….and she says, whatever…..Papa says, we’re leaving, it’s not safe here anymore. And Claire is like, oh no I’m not. So Peter is back in the antique room in the Present and he’s trying to get back to the Future and someone sneaks up on him so he throws blue gobs of light at him…..and look who it is…..Adam, I mean the fake Kensai. So Adam is still out to burn Hiro, basically….which is probably why Sulu was offed first…..
So this was the best episode…EVER. Did I already say that? Oh well. Not in the least bit because the Super Twins were absent from this one….so next week we get answers to all our burning questions – how did DL die? Who is Elle? What happened to Peter and Nathan before the explosion? I still have tons of questions too – is Claire really Adam’s daughter? And not Nathan’s? I forget what Claire’s real mom could do….And who is this Dragon in the last trial of Kensai? Why in the world is Papa Bennett in the picture if he has no abilities? Who was keeping Sylar alive and why? What did Bing mean when he said that “Snow in Miami” headline could have read “Tsunami wipes out half of eastern seaboard”? Can Adam do that now too? Or are there more Great Abilities out there we have yet to meet….
And finally, they aren’t answering so many questions because of the writer’s strike….are they? I hope not. Till next week gators,
-Heather
30 octobre So Whose Side are You On, Anyway? It finally feels like autumn now outside, just in time for Halloween. I’ll post some pictures later this week of the house so you can see it all decked out for the holiday. Hopefully we get lots of kids to the house, because as usual I have purchased approximately 13 pounds of candy….which I will undoubtedly eat all by myself if no kids come to the house….so I hope they do…..the Hubby has decided to quit smoking. So, unlike me who has issues with will power, he will positively succeed at this. But that doesn’t mean he won’t be grumpy about it for a few days….so I’m trying to coast through this week without making him crazy for any reason…..and having lots of candy on hand apparently makes ex-smokers very very happy. I will also attempt to get a picture of the Pumpkin with her pumpkin hat on….I make no promises….this is eerily similar to getting a snapshot of Nessie or Bigfoot…..the Pumpkin can be equally as elusive when I start chasing her around the house with the camera and the hat. Keep your fingers crossed.
On to the show. So we start off seeing Peter and the little lassie pack up for Montreal. You know thanks to her awesome accent in this, now when I say all this in my head it’s with the same accent. Becawse Ay’m gonr kill ‘er. Of course she wants to kill the girl who murdered her brother….stupid question Peter. So Claire is trying out for the cheerleading team that she already told Papa she was on….and of course the Evil Cheer Leader turns her down in humiliating fashion, adding that Claire is just not “Extra Ordinary”. Oh, the irony. And this girl, this actress, plays Evil Cheer Leader quite well. Man, I hate her.
Mohinder is watching Monica do crazy gymnastic feats of amazing wonder to prove that she really has a Great Ability. Now, Bing wants Mohinder to inject Monica with a form of the virus that will hopefully end her abilities without harming her….which seems totally unfair….why not wait and inject Maya? That’s obviously a power nobody needs….but of course that would make too much sense. Mohinder of course is outraged at the thought of it…but agrees in the end. Go Mohinder. Way to stick to your guns there buddy boy….
So Annoying has the brilliant plan of humiliating the Evil Cheer Leader in order to get the other Cheer Lemmings to let Claire onto the squad….oh….this should be good. Meanwhile…..still not in the United States…..Maya is talking to Sylar in the car about her abilities and he tells her he used to have abilities…which he clearly still has, I mean how else did he seemingly fall out of the sky into the middle of the road where these two happened to be traveling? So anyway, Alejandro is suspicious. I know this because he crinkled up his face into the Alejandro suspicious look. You really should have learned to speak some English before traveling here man….it probably would have been helpful when driving along with a mass murderer in your car….
So over in the Ukraine, Papa Bennett and Voodoo Man break into some Russian guy’s house. Papa clearly used to know this guy, it even sounds like this guy trained Papa to be the cold-hearted slave to the Company that he used to be. So Russian Guy apparently knows where the paintings are, but refuses to talk. So, Papa threatens to make Voodoo Man erase all of Russian Guy’s most precious memories. That’s pretty evil, actually…just one question. Is it really torture if the victim doesn’t know they’re being tortured? I mean, what if I just knock you out and when you wake up, say, so do you remember anything about going on a date with Russell Crowe to see a rugby match in Australia three years ago? And you’d go, no. And I’d go, AHA! See! I erased your memory!! I mean, that would work just as well, right? Anyway, so Russian Guy is convinced its working and decides to offer Papa a place in the Company again to stop the torture. He even promises that Papa will learn everything there is to know about the paintings. Nice offer.
So Mohinder chickens out of giving Monica the shot and confronts Bing, whining about how he can’t do it and this is wrong, blah blah blah. He’s taking Molly and his toys and he’s leaving. And then he smashes all of the virus…which I assume isn’t airborne…..because that would have kind of sucked. The Super Twins have finally made it to America. Glory Hallelujah!!! And then the Citizen Border Patrol stops them. As a matter of fact, like seven black SUVs kind of come out of nowhere….you’re trying to tell me that the Super Twins and Sylar didn’t notice those cars? Anyway, Sylar tells Maya to give the Border Patrol the Ink-Eye so they can get out of there….which she does….while Alejandro complains vociferously (no one can understand you now!!!) and Sylar goes all woozy/dead-like until they are in the clear. Alejandro says don’t do that again, or I’m leaving. And Sylar tells Alejandro to his face he’s going to kill him and his sister. Now, this is a prime example of how knowing the language would have come in handy….
Claire confronts the Evil Cheer Leader in the midst of a drinking/hazing party and asks to speak to her in private. When she’s got her away from everyone else, Annoying swoops in, picks up Claire, drops her on the steps in the usual horrific bendy way and then chases the Evil Cheer Leader away. Excellent. Serves her right for being so Evil. So naturally, she tries telling the police what happened and that Claire is dead and some guy is flying around and then of course Claire walks up and says, what’s going on guys? The Evil Cheer Leader gets nabbed for being drunk and suspended from the squad and the other Cheer Lemmings invite Claire to join them. How devious.
So Bing tells Mohinder he’s so sorry, and he’s been preoccupied with a true threat (whatever that is) and offers Mohinder an assistant. How nice. You should leave anyway Suresh….but I’m sure you won’t now. So gullible. And it was either here or earlier we see a file on the table for an Adam Monroe (is he the true threat?). Now for the legend of Hiro – Kensei and the Swordmaker’s daughter creep into White Beard’s camp and rescue Papa Swordmaker. And while they are trying to escape, Hiro teleports the daughter away with him to protect her….and then she realizes he’s the one she really fell in love with….and then they kiss…..and of course Kensei saw the whole thing. This is turning into a real love triangle. So, Hiro finds Kensei later and says he is sorry and that it won’t happen again and he accidentally fell in love with her…Kensei seems to accept that….but then he bonks Hiro over the head from behind and White Beard shows up with Papa and Daughter Swordmaker. Kensei has turned against everyone. Um….talk about one step forward and two steps back…..Hiro…..what have you done? Who will be the Hero now? Is Hiro the real Hero? Does he end up being the Kensai of Legend, does he end up being his own hero? Cause that would be awesome.
So, the Russian Guy finally caves in and gives the location of the paintings to Papa Bennett. And to show his appreciation, Papa shoots the Russian Guy dead. Wow….I guess he taught him well….
Bing takes Monica home, and gives her a cool iPod thingy with like an encyclopedia of everything she might ever want to imitate. He says call whenever you need anything, and oh by the way, you’re enrolled in the Burger Bonanza Management Training Program….like she cares about that now…..and back at the Company Mohinder learns that Niki is his new partner/watch dog…..or is it Jessica?
Now the ending gets a little confusing. Papa and Voodoo Man find the paintings….but we only get to see a few of them….none of which makes any sense at all….we see someone holding a vial (which I assume is the virus), we see a blonde (maybe Niki) beating on a window or a door, we see Kensei in a sword fight with Hiro, we see Peter pointing a gun at someone and he has a broken nose, and there was another painting off to the side which we couldn’t really see the whole thing just someone who looked like Peter. And there was another one off to the other side that looked like someone collapsed on some steps….but I can’t really be sure. I rewound this a few times to make sure I got everything….and I think that’s it. Peter and the little lassie make it to Montreal and to the building in the painting (which has the helix over the doorstep), they go inside and find what looks like some sort of antique store. They find a note to Peter from ‘Adam’ that says “We were right about the Company. The World is in danger. It’s up to us.” Then Peter gets frustrated, the little lassie hugs him, he wishes for answers and then the two of them get transported one year into the future. Specifically June 14, 2008. A virus has broken out in New York City and the place has been evacuated….oh dear…..maybe that virus was airborne?
So who is Adam Monroe? Is he Peter’s alter ego (like Niki/Jessica)? Did he make Peter the way he is, or did he ship Peter away to safety in the crate? Can Peter wish himself into the future…..like Hiro?!?!? Is the Blue Lightening girl Bing’s daughter? Did that other Lemming Cheerleader overhear Claire and Annoying talk about their hoax? Why are all the other Original Heroes still alive even though they’ve been jinxed? Didn’t Sulu say he had 24 hours to live after finding the picture? When will Molly wake up? Where have Parkman and Nathan gotten off to?
More questions…even more. I do have one answer. The episode was in memory of a ‘Tim Susco’. In case you were curious, he was an uncredited assistant location manager for one episode of the show. He was from Reston, Virginia. He died on August 15 from a brain aneurysm. He was 25 years old.

Aloha, Heather 23 octobre The Kindness of Strangers and Pandora's BoxOk, ok, so I was on vacation last week and left you all hanging….a girl’s gotta take a break every now and again….so this week I’ll recap both episodes just so nothing is missing.
The Kindness of Strangers Papa Bennett is totally paranoid about the killer Cheerleader now….so he says who are you dating? And she totally lies and says, no one. Liar!!! But I wouldn’t trust him either Claire….Molly is still having scary nightmares and scruffy Nathan visits his boys at school to tell them Granny is in the hospital.
Maya, Alejandro and the anonymous Driver are on the road (still trying to get to America….this is starting to feel like Prison Break!)….when all of the sudden they see someone passed out in the road. And whaddya know, it’s Sylar!! How’d he get there….did he get that girl’s powers after all? So anyone, Maya is happy to meet him and then spills the beans about Dr. Suresh and the book and blah blah blah and happy day for Sylar, he has stumbled across another “Great Ability” he can suck out of someone. Alejandro is suspicious, but other than that totally useless in this scene….
Micah is being terrorized by his cousin (a la Harry Potter), and we meet Monica who is apparently Ohura’s granddaughter. She’s taken the fast food manager test and thinks that is going to help her “make it”….oh boy. Dudley wants to watch pay per view wrestling…and Monica tells him no way you little spoiled brat, there’s no money for that….and now Micah Potter tells his mean old cousin, I think I know a way for you to watch wrestling….
Evil Mom is back and she’s confessing to the murder of Sulu….she tells Parkman telepathically to let it go….which of course he doesn’t, he just gets that confused look on his face again. Parkman runs into a clean-shaven Nathan and says I know all about you Fly Boy and oh by the way, I can read minds. So if I haven’t freaked you out yet, how about helping me out with this? Annoying West sees the Cheerleader at school and she’s like, sooooooo we can’t date anymore. It’s not you, it’s me. And Annoying West annoys her into one last date, which she agrees to…..just because he’s so annoying….
So Monica has this friend at the Quickie Mart who reminds me of that woman in Men In Black….the one who’s husband turned into the bug….I have no idea what that actress’s name is….and she’s not even the same person….but this girl reminds me of that one. Anyway, Monica is acting a little spooky by carving tomatoes into roses while she’s talking, and then we find out that her dreams have been ruined because she didn’t pass the manager test.
The Cheerleader lies to everyone and says she’s going to the library but instead she meets up with Mr. Annoying. Papa is suspicious and tries to follow her, but of course she’s already flown away by the time he comes lurking around the corner. So Nathan recognized the group photo that all the other pictures had been torn from, and shows it to Parkman who immediately recognizes his dad. Well, I’ll be….so these ‘abilities’ are definitely inherited.
So the Cheerleader and Annoying are on top of the Hollywood sign (so cheesy) and talking about trusting each other and so Claire jumps off fully expecting to smash herself into little bits on the ground below (you know because she can’t 24 hours without mutilating her body in some way) when Annoying catches her mid-fall……..this is a little sappy……….but Annoying does have the brilliant idea of telling Papa Bennett that she tried out for cheerleading instead of going to the library….because that’s a more believable lie……hmmmm…..I think this kid may be a bad influence on our little Cheerleader.
Micah Potter gets the pay per view working which of course pleases fat Dudley. Monica tells him he shouldn’t have done it….while she seems totally engrossed with the wrestling….so Parkman comes home to Molly and Suresh and explains about his dad and then asks Molly to find him and shows her the picture. She totally flips out and says that’s the man she’s been having nightmares about…………..AAAAAAAAAAAHHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! It’s all starting to make sense now………not really….but I feel like it should be making sense by now…..
So the Anonymous Driver finds a Wanted poster of Maya and Alejandro and tells Sylar they have to call the police. So naturally Sylar kills the guy and then confronts the Super Twins. Maya freaks out as usual, Alejandro calms her down and Sylar figures out they both have powers…..very very interesting…..so of course he wants to help them out. At least until he can cut their brains open and get their powers for himself.
So the Cheerleader sneaks back in her house and of course Papa is waiting up to figure out why she lied to him….so she lies again and tells him that she tried out for cheerleading (nice one West) which he seems to believe. And after the normal – I told you not to do that – argument, Claire agrees to not date anyone so she can stay on the cheerleading squad. Okaaaaaaaaaaay…..now she’s even more uneasy about Papa…..because what a weird demand….right? The Haitian guy shows up and says the other paintings are in Odessa. ROAD TRIP!!
Back at the Quickie Mart, some thug tries to rob the store and Monica goes all Triple H on the guy…..hmmm….starting to see a connection here. Parkman wants Molly to help him find his dad, Suresh says no way….Molly says she’ll do it. So she finds him and then freaks out and then passes out. Apparently Papa Parkman found her too.
No Hiro this episode, that was a little disappointing. No Peter….that was really disappointing…The Super Twins are starting to get super annoying….so I kind of hope Sylar offs them. Monica is an interesting character….why do people get their powers at such random times in their lives? And there were a few people in that picture that we’ve never seen before, minus the ones that we know are dead, Evil Mom, Bing and Parkman’s dad. Moving right along to this week’s episode –
Pandora’s Box (not the real title, the real title was Fight or Flight, which I thought was kind of stupid) Mohinder is angry with Parkman for putting Molly in a coma, which wasn’t exactly his fault, but close enough. Monica won’t tell the police who the thug was who broke into the Quickie Mart because she doesn’t want to cause trouble. Ahhhh, and here’s Peter and Caitlin kissing again. And what’s this? Some blonde girl looking for Peter? We’ve never seen her before, have we? And oh my……….she’s got a little static electricity problem too………hmmmm……I’m guessing that’s not a coincidence.
So, Ricky comes into the pub and interrupts the kissers to warn Peter about the blonde. He says go hide in my sister’s flat until I get rid of the blonde….um…..what the hell? Hide? That was kind of a lame excuse to get Peter out of there…..I have a bad feeling about Ricky. Unless he has some powers we never knew about, I think he may be a goner.
Monica confides in the redhead that something weird is happening to her – she sees something on TV and then she can do it. Huh. That would be seriously cool. Especially considering the amount of TV I watch. So Nathan goes with Parkman to track down his deadbeat dad in Philadelphia. They find his apartment pretty easily thanks to Molly. And here he is, totally paranoid, waving around a shotgun and he recognizes his kid (after Nathan calls him Parkman)….Parkman says why are you harassing Molly in her dreams, which the guy never really answers….not really, but instead shows Parkman and Nathan his own picture with the red helix through it.
So Papa Parkman sheds some light on the Elder Heroes gang. They apparently mysteriously found each other and thought they could save the world….interesting….and eerily similar to this gang of heroes. Parkman tries to read Papa’s mind and of course can’t, that would be way too easy.
So Monica comes home and hears Micah playing the piano, she sits down to listen and without realizing what she’s doing, starts playing with him. This totally freaks her out and Micah seems a little curious about what is going on. Mohinder decides to take Molly to the Company to get her some help….Papa Bennett thinks that’s a terrible idea….I agree….why is Mohinder so stupid sometimes….
So Papa Parkman has successfully convinced Parkman to take the cuffs off so that he can explain….<shaking my head> don’t trust this guy, he seems kind of sketchy to me. So he tells them that some of the Elder Heroes began using their powers for evil (well of course they did) but he tried to stop them, then he says he wants to show Parkman something….and the door slams behind them, this is not good. Parkman is in some dark room and Nathan breaks in to help him…..but now they have both been transported to some other place and time…..how’d he do that?
HIRO!! I missed you. Ando is getting a museum guy to help him read the scrolls Hiro left for him to read. And we hear more about the story of Kensai and the swordmakers daughter and their quest….so cool. They have the last clue in their journey, a map to White Beard’s camp. So they’re on their way, but I’m guessing this is not going to end the way Hiro expects it to….
Micah explains to Monica that she has special powers and shows her what he can do by turning on the TV just by touching the screen (not the power button). He calls her a ‘muscle mimic’ and shows her a comic book with the Ninth Wonder in it….the Saint Joan character. Is this some kind of reference to Joan of Arc, talking to God, martyr…..I wonder.
Molly is at the Company and Bing tells Mohinder he needs him to go pick up a new freak….then Nikki attacks them and Mohinder manages to taser her before she can choke Bing to death….what’s she doing there? I thought she had to run an errand for them before they fixed her?
So now Peter is hiding out in Caitlin’s apartment….she’s a painter (just like Isaac)…so Peter decides to open the box. Finally. Open the box!!! And there’s basically nothing in there – a plane ticket to Montreal, his passport, some money…..AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Totally useless. Then, just because I thought of Isaac….he goes all white-eye on us and starts painting in a trance….ooooooooOOOOOOoooooo…..he does seem to have everybody’s abilities now….doesn’t he?
So now I finally realize that Parkman and Nathan have not been transported to another time/place, they are actually in their own respective nightmares….except they are fighting against each other. Nathan sees the burnt up guy, who is really himself…..aha! Parkman pulls himself out of the nightmare somehow and manages to keep Nathan from choking him to death….they realize Papa Parkman is gone. But before they leave in total defeat, they find another picture – this time it’s Bing and he has the red helix too.
Ando is still at the museum deciphering the scrolls Hiro left him. We hear a tiny bit more of the story. Kensai, the daughter and Hiro find White Beard’s camp which happens to be full of an entire army. They decide to attack anyway…which we don’t hear anything about….three against an army….the stuff of legend.
Mohinder shows up to collect Monica. The Blonde is speaking on the phone, and it was either at this point or some time earlier she mentioned the Company….oh boy. So I’m pretty sure she killed Ricky, that’s too bad. Now she’s fussing about coming home and says, well ok I had to kill someone, so what. So yeah, pretty positive she killed Ricky. Then she apparently agrees to come home, and we find out she’s talking to her daddy. Lots of dads in this show….you know? So anyway, Peter finishes painting and he thinks it looks like himself and Caitlin standing in Paris and she says it may be Montreal and then the phone rings and Caitlin finds out her brother is dead.
Oh boy. This was a good episode!! So what’s up with all the biblical name and saint references – Joan, Peter, Gabriel (Sylar), Angela, Isaac, Claire…..lots of symbolism in these shows. Like the helix symbol – is that the DNA that makes heroes, it means “Great Ability” right? Did you see it on the cover of the comic book Micah showed to Monica? Lots of questions...always more questions....what are the other paintings of? Will Claire kill Papa? Will Parkman kill Papa? Will Nathan kill Mama? Or will Kensai kill them all? When do Sylar and Peter face off? And how did Peter get that way? This is infuriating having so many questions....
Till next week, back on schedule, Aloha, Heather 9 octobre Just Leave It BeSo, here’s the deal. The Redskins won this weekend. The Caps are off to an extremely exciting start. The Hubby and I visited our little princess niece this weekend….who is now about ten pounds. I decorated for Halloween, with Skywalker’s help. Everything is going so well…………and yet……………it still feels like the fiery pits of hell outside. What is up with this weather? I should not be carving pumpkins in my shorts. The Hubby and I went to the Germantown Oktoberfest this weekend….which is usually very pleasant…..except this time it was sweltering outside. And of course by sweltering, I mean mid-80’s. We’ve already soundly established my dislike for warm weather. I am more than ready for fall to arrive. But what am I saying? This is Maryland. Autumn will be approximately 45 minutes long. We’ll wake up one morning and all the poor confused trees will have finally given up and shaken every single leaf onto the ground. And then, that afternoon, the blizzards will start. This is Maryland. Gotta love it.
Anyway, the opening show of the week was on last night so let’s get to it. Ricky is telling Peter that he can have the mystery box if Peter aids and abets them in their heinous crimes. And then Peter….reads the other guy’s mind (the guy from Enterprise) and finds out that he plans to double-cross them. But of course, nobody believes Peter because he’s the new guy. Will wonders never cease though? Is there anything Peter can’t do? He is definitely the Superman of the bunch this year.
The Maya and Alejandro debacle continues. They are still……….still……….trying to get to America. I thought they were crossing the border last week for crying out loud, but the Hubby pointed out that they were only trying to get into Mexico last week. For pity's sake….get there already!!! So, anyway….Alejandro gets arrested for trying to steal a car, in broad daylight, with a cop right across the street. So he’s in jail now. Idiot.
And here they are – the Hubby’s favorite and her son. Nikki and Micah are visiting D.L.’s grave (did he die? I thought he was still alive in the season finale....). And they’re making a fresh start. It’s all very cryptic and I don’t really know what’s going on with them yet….except the Hubby is drooling all over the floor right now….
And here’s Sylar!!!! FINALLY. Now, I can see what all the evil spoilers were about. He’s on the beach with some girl. Except it’s not a beach and he’s really hurt (from the sword stabbing him, remember?). So the redhead is working for someone, and she can make illusions. That’s kind of cool.
The Cheerleader is trying to tell annoying West (yes, he’s annoying again) that she was giving herself a pedicure. Jesus Christ, Claire. That is the worst excuse….like….ever. West isn’t buying it….but he’s being a total teenage ass about it. Parkman almost shoots Mohinder in their apartment, because he didn’t know Mohinder was coming home. Parkman has no faith in the doctor’s competence. Me either. I am fairly positive Bing and the Company know exactly what he’s up to…
And here’s Ando. I’m glad he’s still in the show. Very cool. And he finds messages from Hiro in the samurai sword….that’s also cool. And Hiro is trying to convince Kensai that he has a gift and is not cursed. Come on Sark. Miraculously healing!! That’s so awesome!!
So back to Peter and he can’t make the blue gobs come out of his hands….this was very Spiderman (hmmm….another Peter?). But the little lassy says don’t worry, I’ll watch your back. Great. That must be a huge relief. Unless of course….she has powers too……and by the way. I’m all for having Mr. Peter Petrelli walking around shirtless like this. All for that.
Back to Hiro and the hesitant Kensai. Kensai runs away, only to be found slicing himself up to prove he isn’t going insane. So Hiro teleports him to this temple where he has to get the fire scroll and defeat the angry ronin people….by himself because Hiro teleports away. What's the fire scroll? Is this really relevant to the story? Or is this just want Hiro read about when he was a kid....
Annoying West starts talking about lizard girls in science class and really upsets Claire. He’s such a jerk. Why are high school boys such jerks? And they think they’re funny and charming….no. You’re just a jerk. So Claire runs out of the room and he follows her and she’s yelling at him and he’s doing the buggy eye thing at her….and then he just picks her up and flies away. Well. Sorry Peter, I guess you’re not the Superman of the bunch…..because that was very VERY Christopher Reeve Supermanish. He’s still annoying though. Of course, you have to consider. Claire’s real daddy can fly. So, maybe she’s related to Mr. Annoying? I don’t know how it works….the Great Ability. It must be hereditary, though. Right? I know....I think everybody's related to the cheerleader for some reason...
So Peter helps the fighting Irish steal their money and even ends up using the Force to throw an armored car on the guards. Yeah. Maybe he’s a Jedi? Bing shows Mohinder his new lab, which just happens to be Isaac’s loft. I guess the price for square feet in New York is a little steep, even for the Midas Touch. Or else they didn’t want to build a new set. Kensai comes back with the scroll and the Swordmaker’s daughter is all gaga over him now. And poor Hiro….he’s definitely in love.
Nikki drops Micah off in New Orleans to stay with family. Because she has things to do. And Micah has had it with this lady. She’s always running off to do bad things. I hear ya, kid. So anyway, maybe staying with family will be fun? So they open the door and who is standing there? Nichelle Nichols. Otherwise known as Ohura from the classic Star Trek. I half expected her to have a Bluetooth in her ear….you know…..just for old times sake. But there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that she has some sort of power. No doubt. Voodoo granny from N'awlins has got some heebeedajeebies going on, guaranteed.
Maya breaks Alejandro out of jail by melting everybody’s eyeballs. Then they abduct one of the other inmates who has a car so they can get to the border. The one Irish guy double-crosses Ricky, just like Peter said he would. So that guy shoots Peter and then goes for the money. Peter is, of course, fine and Jedis him up onto the wall…..and what’s this? He appears to be enjoying the whole killing thing. A little too much. I’m telling ya…..he’s acting like Sylar. It’s weird. The little lassy talks him down. His miracle skin ploops out the bullets and everyone is staring at him like the freak he is….
Hiro says he can return to the present….now that Kensai knows he can fight….but then thinks better of it. Probably because of the girl. Awwwwwwww, that’s gonna be a heartbreaker. I can just tell. Sylar is trying to get his powers back and realizes he has none. The redhead says, be patient. You need to heal. But Sylar has no patience for that. The redhead says she can help him get his powers back using the illusion trick….so Sylar, of course, kills her. Turns out she was really some other person altogether….but what’s this? Sylar can’t do anything. He can’t get her powers. And now you’ve killed her for nothing. There’s no one here to take care of you. You’re out, literally, in the middle of nowhere. Nice going, dummy.
The little lassy is tattooing Peter, which the Hubby pointed out should just fade away and heal itself if we’re going to be consistent here….but anyway….now he’s one of the family. Ricky gives him the mystery box. Peter tells Caitlin he’s not sure he wants to know who he was…..and she says, if you like it here…..just leave it be. And then they kiss. <sigh> And the Hubby’s theory about the tattoo……..turns out to be right…………except it doesn’t fade away, it become the helix sign first, and then fades away. That’s kind of weird.
Claire and Mr. Annoying are on the beach now….and they’re kissing too. Ok. So hopefully, they’re not brother and sister. And then Mr. Annoying tells a story about this man that found him in the last place he lived and losing his memory….and wow this is familiar…..and then he mentions the horn-rimmed glasses. Aha!! Eureka!! Claire knows she’s talking about Papa Bennet…..this will not end well…..
Nikki has apparently gone to Bing to be “cured” but needs to run him an errand first. Mohinder finds the last painting in the series of eight. Ok, let’s start with the end. That’ll make it nice and confusing. And what’s the picture? Well…….it’s Papa Bennet dead of course. Shot right through the eyeball, with Claire and Mr. Annoying standing in the background, kissing. Oh my. At least I assumed it was Claire and West….maybe it was another blonde. But it was definitely Papa and he was definitely dead. Well……………we know being dead may not be permanent or inevitable……….thanks to Peter and Sylar coming back this season.
We learned a little tiny bit about the paintings….but why is Papa in a painting if he wasn’t one of the Elder Heroes? Maybe he is….maybe the Haitian took that memory also…..or maybe I’m reaching, as usual. Nikki and Sylar are back finally….now where’s Nathan and Evil Mom. Is she still alive? I still think Kensai may be the assasin….nothing debunked that theory this time. I have about a million more questions…..but for now....I'll just leave it be. <smile> That is such bad grammar.
Aloha, Heather 2 octobre You Look Like A Fish When You TalkSo we start off where we left off last week – with Peter getting beat up some more by the Irish gangsters who are missing their iPods. McSorley is expecting the shipment and if they don’t deliver, everyone is in traaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuuble!! Heehee….where’s the blue gob of light, Peter? I can’t handle an amnesia season…that better not be where this is headed….
Claire is supposed to be “laying low” at school…which she fails miserably at by interrogating her science teacher about regenerating limbs and making herself sound like Dr. Frankenstein in the science lab. And of course, Weird West is just staring at her, focusing on not floating off. We did learn that Mrs. Bennet and Mr. Muggles know about Claire’s great ability, and now that she’s not being brainwashed every other day, she’s not nearly as annoying. We learn that Isaac painted the Death of Sulu in a series of eight paintings (or seven…not sure if I got that right) and Mr. Bennet only has the first of the series. Weird West has Mohinder’s book that he wants Claire to read, but she blows him off with that pleasant ‘you’re a freak’ high school attitude. Oh yeah, and Claire’s car gets stolen…which seems way too random to be random at all….
So Bing is sending Mohinder on his first mission. He has to go to Port-au-Prince to find a sick hero, suffering from the same virus his sister died of…..and whaddya know? It’s the Haitian in Haiti….how about that? I kind of wondered what happened to that guy. Mohinder convinces Voodoo Man that he can help cure him….jump forward and Bing is in Mohinder’s face saying where’s the Voodoo Man? Mohinder got his memory erased and doesn’t know what is going on….but apparently Bing thinks he’s totally incompetent now….
Back to Maya and Alejandro, still trying to get into the States. They find a guide, or a family friend, or whoever to help. One of the people being smuggled across the border is a healer who wants to help Maya….but she just ends up freaking everyone out by saying Maya is full of black, enough black to kill the devil, or something like that. You are cursed, Maya! Hmmm….like Jack Bauer…..so anyway, these kids and their guide are right at the border when the police show up. Maya is separated from Alejandro and she starts to panic. Her black tears end up killing the guide and she’s totally freaking out. Alejandro catches up….and looky looky, his power is to reverse what she does….oooooOOOOOOoooooo…..it’s a TWIN thing…..I get it. That’s totally awesome.
So Hiro is still trying to convince Sark to be the hero of legend….but he’s passed out drunk. Before he passes out though…he tells Hiro he looks like a fish when he talks….HAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA….that was friggin hysterical….so anyway, Hiro decides to put on Kensei’s armor and save the swordmakers daughter. Which he does handily….and what did I tell you, she’s so gonna fall in love with Hiro instead….So the real Kensei is finally convinced to help now that the swordmakers daughter is in love with him. He and Hiro walk outside and the evil samurai are there and arrows fly into Kensei’s chest before anybody can do anything….and immediately I am thinking….so just go back into time again and fix it….why can’t you do that? But wait….look at this…..Sark/Kensei is a healer too…..how about that? The great ancestor of Claire? I’m sure I’m right.
So back in Ireland, and the little lassy is trying to get Peter to talk. We learn her name is Caitlin and her brother’s name is Ricky. Well, they wouldn’t bother telling us their names if they weren’t going to be in the stupid story for a while, right? So, Peter is healing miraculously (thanks to Claire) and then he just melts right through the ropes (thanks to ??????? Sylar???????) and then he saves Caitlin from some more Irish gangster guys by throwing the blue electric gobs at them (thanks to ?????????????) and throwing them up against the wall with his mind (thanks to definitely Sylar). Hmmmmm…..Peter is like Superman. This is very cool. So Ricky says, yer gonna halp us du another jawb. Why is he going to help, you may ask? Well, Ricky apparently has a box full of Peter’s stuff which has his whole story in it. Huh? Come on Peter, no big deal. Do it already….
So now Parkman is questioning Evil Mom about Sulu’s death. And he’s reading her mind….and she knows it. That was kind of weird. What can she do, I wonder? So Nathan shows up at the police station to bail out his Evil Mom and the lights go out and something is attacking her….so Parkman breaks through a window and she’s still alive but scratched up and freaking out. And then Parkman sees the picture of her with the same symbol as the one on Sulu’s picture. The symbol Ando explained earlier means ‘Great Ability’. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh…its all coming together…………well, not really……but these little tidbits always make me feel better about the whole thing.
So Mohinder fooled Bing completely with the Voodoo Man. Apparently, he didn’t get his memory erased. Instead, the Voodoo Man is reunited with Papa Bennet. Very sneaky Suresh!! I can’t imagine Bing and his Midas touch don’t know what’s really going on….it can’t be this easy to fool them…..but anyway, Papa Bennet and the Voodoo Man are going after Isaac’s other paintings to find out what happens to all the other higher ups (like Evil Mom, I imagine).
Now cut back to Claire who is reading about lizards and watching dog shows with Mr. Muggles. She is looking at the scissors and looking at her toes….and if she does what I think she’s going to do, I may throw up. And of course she does…..cut over into a Quentin Tarantino Hostel movie….there goes her toe with a sickening crunch/clip sound from the scissors…..and she’s just staring at her bloody stump wishing her toe back into existence when of course it grows back and at this point I literally feel like vomiting all over the couch. How gross was that!!! And of course Weird West saw the whole thing….because you can’t have your privacy Claire….not anymore…..not with Floater Boy following you around. He does, nicely enough, leave a copy of Mohinder’s book on the driveway for Claire….so I think we’re about to come full circle here.
So nothing about Molly in this one. Nothing about Nathan. Nothing about Niki. And still no Sylar….but those awful spoiler previews have of course ruined it for me….we all know he’s back…..somehow….so who killed Sulu? Who are the other Elder Heroes? Why is Molly dreaming about them? What does the Maya/Alejandro duo have to do with all of this? If Claire can’t die and Kensei is Claire’s ancestor….maybe he couldn’t die either? Maybe he’s still around….an assassin for hire…..hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…
Aloha, Heather
p.s. Peter Petrelli is such a hotty….Milo Ventimiglia. Maybe that’s Italian….not sure…..<smile>. All TV credits in his bio….except of course for the Rocky movie recently…..oh my goodness though…what gorgeous musc – I mean, eyes. <wink>
